Is there anybody wanting to earn a belt? I'm just bored. I specifically want a low herald match, but I'll take on pretty much any tier.

Who are you considering using?

Smurph, I'd face you, but I fear becoming too involved. Had I lost the Thor match, I'd probably be game.

That, and I suck balls at low herald. No idea who I'd pick.

In an unclaimed tier, you don't have to announce your pick. Revealing this would give up an advantage.

Yeah but I would only agree to a debate if I knew who I was facing, because I have a Low Herald character I could use but there are some characters I know he wouldn't do well against, and if it turns out I was facing one of them I'd probably just give up.

Those characters make for interesting picks but ultimately probably ill-suited for belt titles where they quickly become public and open for challengers.

Well, maybe I'll challenge Digi's high meta belt then... although it would be nice to open a new field.

I'm game, of course. I feel like Luke's days are numbered, but I picked him knowing he was rounded enough to take on a variety of opponents.

Fair enough. It's still no reason for him to reveal his pick. Because, from his perspective, the only way you face him is if you see his pick and say "Oh, I'd do well against him." Not an inspiring start to a match.

srug

I hope you get to use whoever you're thinking of. But I doubt you'll have the benefit of knowing your opponent first, if it's the first match at low herald.

Allrightey. That's something then.

I'll scan my brain for solid high meta choices and hopefully I'll have an official challenge for you soon.

... and, my character's been cleared by Jake.

I guess I could use some additional research time but I'm mostly antsy for a battle, so lets figure out a date Digi?

Maybe the 29th? Week-long battle, 5 post limit (+1 writeup, so 6 total)?

Also, since you know your opponent's character, I get the same luxury, yeah? The blind battle is only the initial one for the belt, iirc.

Yeah. You do. I'm just thinking and rethinking....

smurph has to reveal his pick pre-BZ? that's new

Nah. Leo told me his pick upon issuing his challenge for my Mid Herald belt.

Digi, I know you've prepped for this character before, so it might not be my wisest pick but I relish the opportunity to use him in a battlezone match, SO....

I pick Sandy Hawkins

Nothing useful remains from it, so there's that going for you. I've followed JSA for years though - hopefully that helps somewhat. Interesting choice though.

Let's round up judges now...

Crap, we start Monday, don't we? I should be ok still. Also, we still need judges.

I will judge this one as well.

I'd like to judge 🙂

I'd like to have a magic-themed battlezone proposed with the following stipulations:
1. The cap is high meta. All the characters shall have the powers of magical origin/magic-related.
2. Teams of three are used. Mixed genre is allowed, however the ratio is "2 comic characters+one mixed-genre one".
3. Prep-time is allowed, one hour per team (no use of time manipulation and/or superspeed to work around this cap, in this case the hour is counted as subjective time for characters).
4. No one-hit kill tactics of any origin that can't be reasonably defended against (that covers many things from offensive use of time manipulation to teleporting opponents' hearts and brains from their bodies).
5. Summons/constructs are allowed, 10 per team, capped at high meta level as well (so if somebody drafts Bayonetta for their mixed genre team member he won't be able to use Queen Sheba summon)
6. "One hour KO" rule - an attack that leaves a character down for one hour regardless of whether he/she recovers from it or not shall count as legal knockout for the match purposes.
7. Superspeed is capped at Mach 5.
8. Teleporting is allowed, but no BFR/self-BFR is allowed.
9. Psychic attacks/possessions are legal only as long as they don't violate "one hit-kill rule".
10. No offensive matter manipulation.

Maybe more, if I find anybody interested in this.

We've got a couple judges. We'll have to find the rest once the battle goes up.

I'm working on my writeup, will have it in tonight. I'm also trying to find Sand's low showings I dug up in a past life for an old tourney. No luck yet - Smurph's off the hook for the time being.

I'll judge

Thanks. Three then. Two to go.

My writeup is in to Jake. We'll have a week from when it's posted, and 5 posts each (after writeups, so 6 total).

Jake, can we ask you to round up a couple more judges via PM? There's bias issues to be avoided by Existere or I asking people.
