Just watched it. Being a huge TMNT fan I'll try my best to give an objective review. Now.. if you're not a fan and are not familiar with the story from comics/tv shows there's a good chance you'll walk out of the cinema 20 minutes into the film. Not because it's bad.. It's just for someone who's not ready for it those giant talking CGI monsters that come out of nowhere, do Kung fu and crack jokes must seem so weird and out of place at the beginning of the movie. You don't really get the chance to get used to the characters, let alone sympathize with them. That goes for heroes as well as villains. Everything feels.. silly and it's difficult to get yourself to care. So if you're expecting a movie with a well thought through plot.. this one is definitely not for you. It's pure simple entertainment. That said it's one of those rare movies that get better as the story progresses. Eventually you get used to turtles. Being a huge fan of the old tv show I was upset they made the ninjas so huge but you stop noticing that pretty fast and at some point their size stars feeling "right" even. You even get used to the boring Shredder who has no personality whatsoever beside being the bad guy. And that stupid evil plan of his. At some point you stop questioning all that and just enjoying movie. Both action and humor that are great. The turtles are hilarious (you'll laugh your ass off) Fight scenes.. epic. And haters can say whatever the F they want Megan Fox was a great April. Let's not pretend like its a deep character that requires some Oscar level acting. Fox did a good job, and that ass shot in tight jeans alone deserves an extra point even though that's what many fans actually complain about. To sum it up, even keeping aside my TMNT fanboyism.. This is a solid movie, definitely not a serious one (not that it's trying to be) with silly plot yet the kind of movie I know I'd enjoy seeing a second time. Definitely deserves a sequel. Simple pure entertainment for the family and nostalgia for old school fans. 6.5-7/10.

The 2nd movie was bad. Like real bad. I loved the hell out of the movie as a kid, but I watched it a few weeks ago out of boredom and sigh. What a piece of trash. My parents must have regretted ever having me after I put them through showing after showing of that movie lol.
And yeah the third one somehow managed to be worse lol.

Thats where we are diffrent lol I hated it, except for the actual fighting and I read the comics, watch the cartoons, the movies, and even the series with the girl turtle.

Yeah. That is one of the big things that bothered me. I know the comics Splinter was just a Rat but at least he was Hamato Yoshi's pet and learned by watching him train/practice. However, and its been a long time, I seem to remember Splinter being Shredders pet Rat in the old movies. I hated how they had Splinter learn in the new movie though. One of the things that killed it for.
I do agree with you though I prefer the way the old and new cartoon portray Splinter actually as Hamato Yoshi.
