I've played the prologue with each class as of now.
First of all: Why are all but the opening cutscene unskippable? Why game? Why do this? For what purpose? I've seen this two times already I don't need to ****ing see it again. It's jarring, and frustrating, to say the least.
The controls are tight and responsive (Without being overly responsive), no complaints there.
The classes feel and play differently, even without having unlocked all of the unique powers, which I enjoyed. The difference was most noticeable to me when I played the Hunter (After having done the Titan). The Titan's footsteps are heavier, because of his mass when he comes to a dead stop after running he almost seems to skid on his boots, and of course he's just slower than the Hunter, while also having much higher armour. Playing the Titan makes you feel like a god of war, striding through the battlefield and wading through enemy fire. Before you kill your enemy by punching him in the head. The Hunter by comparison is quicker, lighter on his feet, he just feels so much lighter. I found myself naturally acclimating to this role quickly; fighting from a healthy distance, playing more tacticooly, relying on the sniper (Glad they gave you it during the prologue) and using the assault rifle and knife when enemies closed the distance.
The Warlock by comparison was underwhelming and just felt overall worse. Sure it recovers health quicker but eh, as far as how playing the class felt it was just a shittier version of the Hunter only I get a useless ****ing shotgun. I mean, I'm sure it's more fun later, when you actually get spells, but as far as the prologue is concerned it is just less fun and you don't really get a feel for how the Warlock should be played. Also, having each class only get a grenade at the end was lame IMO.
The level design is rather boring and drab in the prologue. It's a big empty level, and despite its size ultimately very linear. Felt very boring IMHO. This is actually probably my biggest complaint (Along with the character creation). The level was so big yet so devoid of content playing it actually made me feel tired, as if the sheer emptiness of it was weighing down on my mind.
The shotgun is basically a melee weapon. It's worthless if you're over five feet away from the enemy and yes this is a bad thing. Its damage is so poor beyond that that I'd just use the assault rifle from such distances, and any closer and I'd just opt to punch them for the quick kill, saving ammo. Shotguns being so close-range is never a good thing in games IMHO, and I don't know why so many devs make them so.
The shadowing is terrible on PS3. Like, surreal in its badness. My shadow and the shadows of other things looks almost 8-bit in quality. It actually distracted me.
Music is good.
Enemies are rather generic and boring so far. There's the Space Pirates from Metroid, bigger Space Pirates from Metroid with hats, and little drone guys. None are particularly hard nor interesting in their fighting, and their designs are just average. Not awful, but not too interesting.
Didn't care for my robot Titan having a generic white guy voice.
The character creation was a big disappointment for me. It's very bare-bones, you can only choose between a few pre-rendered faces, give them hair (Or weird face and head things in the case of the robot), change race and gender, and give them tattoos. There's nothing like scarring, you can't change anything but the face, and most shocking you can't even give your character facial hair. Even Mass Effect 1 had better character creation. I am really hoping there's more content for customization during the actual release.
Peter Dinklage's voice acting is rather bland and devoid of charisma. In fact, so far the game has little in the way of charisma or flair. It's rather super srs bsns so far, which may or may not turn out to be a problem for me in the long run.
I jumped over the rail in the hub immediately just to see if I could because that's what men do.
Don't have much else to say. I'll keep playing, maybe add more later. To sum up my thoughts, it definitely isn't bad and is certainly playable, but it really hasn't lived up to its hype so far. Maybe it will. I'll find out.
Also my characters are:
A male Exo Titan.
A male human Hunter.
A female Evolved Warlock.
