Jack Bauer vs John McClane

When you are saving the world as we know it, you can't help but be a bit consequentialistic....

You watch Nikita?

I've watched only a few eps of the new series. But she is a beast compared to these guys. Heck in the first ep she broke a large mans neck standing directly in front of him. An insane feat for a woman.

I'm a huge fan of the original series though. I've watched every ep of it.

I love the new series and have seen every episode. Percy evolves into one of the greatest TV villains ever

Is the Canadian one as good?

I wouldn't say 1-2 million American lives(though that number seemed highly inflated) and a few miles of LA real estate constitutes as "the world".

Keep watching. The stakes get a lot higher than a single nuke.....

Also note McClane has never taken on a time-sensitive threat of this magnitude ever

Loved the original series. Had it's extreme cheesy moments though but they balanced out with the gritty cloak and dagger ones.

I expect the new series falls into the same.

Plan too, this season is improved from 1.

Oh no? Watch DH4.0, the world was at stake.

Sorry, but if that's McClane's highest showing he's McUnimpressive.

List of times McClane has stopped a world-wide apocalypse
1. LFODH- Stops the meltdown of one nuclear reactor

List of times Bauer has stopped a world-wide apocalypse

1. Day 2- Prevents WWIII between the US and Middle East
2. Day 3- Prevents an international pandemic
3. Day 4- Prevents the meltdown of six nuclear reactors (even stated such an event would cause a "nuclear holocaust"😉
4. Day 4- Provokes/Prevents WWIII with China
5. Day 6- Provokes/Prevents WWIII with Russia
6. Day 7- Prevents WWIII between US and Middle East
7. Day 8- gets dangerously close to Provokes and Prevents WWIII with Russia

You failed to grasp what was a stake in DH4.0. It was the world; McClane saved it.

I'm not reading what you posted, as they'd be spoilers for me, you @ss.

I completely understand the stakes.

You fail to grasp that Jack goes against those odds on a regular basis

Well, just finished season two, and yet another season's worth of feats you masturbated. That torture scene + kick-all-ass you made it out to be wasn't even 10% as epic as you claimed.

FFS, Bauer was barely tortured and his ticker flat-lined from a hand-held tazer, the kind women keep in their purses to scare off would-be rapist.

How so? Was he not tortured, escaped, and then proceed to kill 8 people, (including doing a wall-run neck snap) and stop thermonuclear WWIII?

Being cut with a scalpel dipped in ammonia, being burnt with a hot cauterizer (on the cut wound!), and being repeatedly electrocuted directly in the heart is barely torture? And let's not forget he survived a plane crash....

Let's break that down in reality:

Tortured equaled about 35mins of some creepy looking dude cutting a few superficial wounds across his ribs and then burning them with what amounted to as being a hot nail(it was a small soldering gun). Then he was tazered a bit and ****ing died. Old man Roger Stanton handled more. McClane's daughter could handle more.

The guys he killed: Of his captures, one was incapacitated first by the doctor (who rescued Bauer) via drugs and the other two were stupid enough to open the door in a "what, heard a shot, doh-de-doh" move and got shot in return for their idiocy.

Your "run-wall neck snap" is blown WAY out of proportion, he was fighting a dude, they locked together; Bauer grabbed his head/neck and Bauer used the wall to push himself off using his weight to break the neck.

The other guys Bauer had both an elevated/partially covered position and a high-powered scoped rifle while they had sub-machine guns and possibly the worst aim on the planet, they consistently sprayed the wall well below Bauer's position.

Now, not saying it wasn't cool overall, but you way over-sold it.

He was cut with a scalpel dipped in ammonia and then burned on that same wound

Because undergoing such an experience feels like laying on a plush pillow...

I'm watching the scene right now. He was tazered directly in the heart

Hey, McClane may have handled more, but let's not get ridiculous here...

Hmm......I can't really argue against that, but i will say Jack has taken on tougher opponents in later times

Because that is so effortless to do after you've been tortured.....

Considering a normal person who had underwent the same circumstances as Jack earlier did would be hooked up to a catheter, I'd say Jack did pretty well

I will admit, of course these aren't his best feats, but remember, there are 6 more seasons, and Jack acquires far more feats during that time

And also, he did halt thermonuclear WWIII and save the world as we know it, so he's still definitely higher than McClane on that scale

Let's just agree you over-sold it.

There wasn't going to be a WW3, that conflict wouldn't have likely dragged in others, as noted. Would have been the US vs 3 Mid-East countries.

I will say, Bauer having to deal with his daughter who is possibly the stupidest and most inept person on the planet is a worthy feat in of itself.

Moving on to Season 3.

Idk. All I stated was that Bauer was tortured to death, revived, and did a wall-run neck snap while saving the world. Speaking of which...

At the beginning of the season, the President of the (hilariously unnamed) Middle Eastern country outright says that if the US retaliated (which they would have done), they would be going to war with 1/3 of the world's population. Definitely would have been more than some regional conflict

I would like to see McClane's daughter and Bauer's daughter team up..........

For porn....

I'll warn you right now the first half is somewhat boring, but the second half is definitely the most intense this series has ever gotten

The threat that all Muslims would have rallied against the US was hyperbole.

The real threat was Russia and China joining in, though as stated, it would be an unlikely scenario.

Ah, good to know.

Definitely not hyperbole. The US were going to launch a missile at an innocent Islamic nation. You don't think that would have international consequences?

You don't think Russia will get involved?

What do you think about the series so far?

As in all Muslims rising up against America? No. The fabricated proof was also there, if need be.

The military experts in the show didn't seem to think Russia would have gotten involved.

It's alright, second season was better than the first. The Kim Bauer always being in trouble side-plot did get tiresome though.
