We are talking about directing, not writing. If it were writing, I'd go with David S. Goyer/Jonathan Nolan.
With Whedon, his writing and directing go together. Even taking them apart, i'd rate Whedon above Abrams tbh.
I'm not sure about Goyer. He's quite hit and miss for me, and generally needs a good director to get quality out of him.

So who would you pick to write and direct?I assume you'd like Peter Jackson since you said he'd knock it out of the park or is there a better option in your opinion?
I'm sure there are a bunch of directors that would work. Heck, Abrams would make a financially successful movie no doubt.
I just want whatever director that comes in, to be able to appeal to both comic fans and the wider audience the way Whedon did. They "felt" like the actual Avengers, but it didn't alienate anyone.
I don't know who I'd pick to direct, tbh. I wouldn't want Goyer writing, unless he changes my mind with Man of Steel.

i have however those aren;t superhero films with mega budget
It was the same for Marc Webb. And he did a great job for TASM Imo. Favreau of course did a completely fantastic job for Iron Man.
On the other hand with Iron man you could take the risk, he (at the time) was a B-List hero and no one was expecting a mega hit.
Whilst a JL movie is too big and too important for the future of DC's Big screen success to take that risk.

yeah but Sony has fired Webb in favor of in house favorite Len Wiseman, also Webb's version of Spidey I had gripes with...
well yeah its a huge risk and you need someone good to direct the Justice League film, its IMO but I do not feel Affleck can get the job done at this point

Peter Jackson being another option. The man knows how to handle a big cast and has an eye for making things feel epic. I just don't know if he'd translate well from complete fantasy to a more modern day story.

I don't think I would want Abrams either.
Peter Jackson is mixed for me. On one hand he does do well at the epic feel, big casts, and the creation of a large believable world. On the other hand I find his handling of the small scale stuff surprisingly pedestrian sometimes. And he has a tendency to wreck some of his big action scenes with sheer overkill, making them so overblown and cgi reliant I lose any sense of immersion or the suspension of disbelief. He took a dinosaur stampede and a fight between Kong and a dinosaur (over the woman) and somehow made them so ridiculous and over the top I was actually bored and didn't care anymore. I just wanted the scenes to end.
It would be possible, certainly. Simply have a character reference that there are other superheroes. Have an army guy express nervousness over the rise in superpowered beings or Luthor say that he's staying out of New York because 'that emerald idiot' is making things difficult for him.
It would be harder since the Avengers was planned right from the start and there isn't really an organization that can try to form the Justice League like there is SHIELD. My first ideas go to doing a Cadmus arc, having them start showing up and being antagonistic towards the superheroes. But that would probably work best after the League has already been formed.

I was thinking at the end of MOS after the credits have a scene where somepeople(don't know who) are talking about the rise of superpowered beings coming out after they find out about Superman or something. I did hear though there is a Lobo film in the works that could also tie into the JLA film.
that would work, maybe even also sometime during the film have Clark walk by a newstand , or be channel surfing and he'll come across something regarding Gotham city, or maybe the story will be an accident at a crime lab.. just something that would start to tie DC's potential shared U

Do you guys think it's possible that they can somehow tie in the Green Lantern movie to the Man of Steel movie to help lead into the Justice League film?BTW is there any official statement from WB that there is even a JLA movie in the works?
They said there's a JL film in the works for a while now but we have zero details on it. Just like how they said there is also a Flash and WW movie in the works but still zero details on it. We hear a lot from WB but never see stuff actually get done.
As for Green Lantern tied to Man of Steel, it's not possible. The two movies would completely contradict each other.

If DC really does do a shared universe, the chances of Green Lantern being rebooted are 100% because the GL film would heavily contradict Man of Steel. Snyder and Goyer have said Man of Steel will be mankind's first encounter with superpowered aliens and it would show how humans would realistically react to the appearance of guys like Superman and Zod. We also know the existence of the Kryptonians will be revealed and there will be at least 1 fight between Superman and Zod in public. Thus the movie wouldn't make sense at all if it took place after Parallax's attack on Earth. Even if you were to set the GL film after Man of Steel, it still wouldn't make sense since Amanda Waller said Abin Sur is mankind's first encounter with aliens. There's literally no chance for the GL film to get a sequel if DC's shared universe is happening.
Maybe Amanda Waller works for a higher power like the Sector 7 in the Transformer movies? It's possible they could keep Abin Sur a secret from most Government agencies. I just think it would make more sense if they could somehow tie in the GL movie but like you said it might be a tad complicated but it could be done.
