Guardians Of The Galaxy (2014)

i got a link to the end credits scene if anyone wants to see it. Dont know if i should post it. or PM me

I thought the portrayal of Thanos was just fine. I got the vibe that he was well above Ronan and the characters felt that way too (and they were afraid of Ronan if that says anything).

well, saw GotG last night. great flick, one of the better films thus far, but i personally still think cap 2 was better. regardless, i'd still rank it in my top 3-5 marvel films to date. 👆

Spoiler:
i think what i enjoyed most about this film is the fact that marvel took a HUGE leap of faith in introducing some of these fictionalities... the elders of the universe, celestials, knowhere, cosmo the space dog, the infinity gems, nova corps, kree empire, the GotG roster, the kyln, etc. etc. etc.--those are all fairly obscure characters/items/places that your average movie-goer/non-comic fans aren't really going to know much(if anything) about-- yet the producers pulled it off seamlessly. even my wife, who has never read a comic in her life, was able to follow the plot and grasp all the various sects of characters, with no issues(though she did bombard be with thanos-related questions after the movie.)

on that note, i didn't care for thanos' voice--it just wasn't menacing enough, imo(especially for a guy who was stated to be "the most powerful being in the universe" in the very same film.) however, bradley cooper/rocket, and vin diesel/groot stole the show. their voices lent brilliantly to said characters. 👆

but yeah, it was a solid film. i have a feeling that it will become even better with subsequent viewings, as i'm sure there were little tidbits i missed the first go-around.

Spoiler:
agree on the Thanos voice. it was not too bad, but could have been better. I watched the Marvel phase 1 and 2 retrospective vid and his voice sounded much better . here is the link . he appears after 5:12

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cInu82fWFfQ
Spoiler:
I actually like the voice from that vid. dont know if that is brolin though. sounds a bit different.

Finally saw it. It was excellent and right up there with X-Men DoFP, but still prefer Cap 2 over both. Still highly recommend to comic fans.

Right now I just can't help but think back on all the complaints Rocket Raccon got when he was revealed to be in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Like most characters that either didn't appear in the 90s X-men or Spider-man cartoons or in a movie beforehand, he got complaints on being "too obscure" and being a "nobody". Then when it was announced that Guardians would be having a movie, people said that would flop because nobody cared about the characters and that Rocket would be the film's Jar Jar Binks.

And now a lot of naysayers suddenly change their tune about a week or two ago. "Its going to be successful but I still hate it." or the usual "The critics were paid off/bribed." Once they saw those tracking numbers and the early positive reviews, they backpedaled hard.

Saw it for the second time, still as much fun as the first. And man, people used to complain about Marvel Studios' movies not having good villains......

Spoiler:
Not only do we finally see THANOS!!, but Ronan is a frickin' BADASS in this movie. Along with Winter Soldier, Marvel Studios' villains are really kicking ass lately.
Also, Ultron is in Avengers 2? Yah, Marvel Studios' villains are no longer a laughing stock.

I've not had any interest in GOTG but I was never silly enough to say it would flop, after the massive brand name that Marvel has built up.

But it's true critics do seem to give Marvel a pass free card given their rave reviews of IM2 and IM3.

However everyone whose seen it seems to agree that GOTG is a great movie.

But of course a great movie can be made from characters that aren't well known. Watchmen was a fantastic movie but did not have the Marvel Brand backing it towards box office success. And all the countless successful non-comic book movie franchises didn't need comic books and cartoons to make them better known first before they hit the big screen Lol

Spoiler:
The voice was good IMO, just not GREAT. Except for the bathing the stars in Ronan's blood line, that was delivered incredibly. I agree, the voice could be deeper, but yeah it was good. They could have phucked up the voice completely, I'm just glad it's something that can be improved on. Thanos' look and demeanor were both excellent IMO.

Highly entertaining movie. I was laughing my ass off. I gotta say, the last thing I was expecting was to see a complete

Spoiler:
celestial

UMVC3, Marvel had much more say in their rosters and both listened to their fans. Rocket, Nova, and Strange were characters they wanted to push and I'm guessing it's because of their plans for their movies. It's like the GOTG's appearance in both Avengers animated series and the rival or GOTG comics (with Iron Man a member lol). With this in mind, they wanted publicity for them first and ignored fanboy complains. Seriously, Venom? He was already in the last video games and they don't hold rights to him for movies. They're not gonna promote him. Marvel and Disney have this marketing thing figured out even if they have to piss off some fans.

Yeah, they're really pushing it in every movie. I wouldn't be surprise if they will reveal that death is an actual being and not just a concept. By this point, Marvel would make Galactus a full being and not some random cloud that Fox churned out. I'm hoping FF flops so by at least 2020 we get a FF movie featuring the Dr Doom would deserve.

You and me both. It's a shame that perhaps their greatest villain ever (though Thanos rocks) is not available for them to use .....sigh.

Yeah that actor is really good. Lee Pace is his name and always has great screen presence. He killed it.

GOTG has the biggest opening ever for August.

its well deserved..

the sequel can't come fast enough 😛

I didn't expect it to be that good. The movie is awesome. Think Marvel Star Wars. And I mean the good Star Wars.
