just got back form seeing this.. I enjoyed it a lot.. Good, fun, thrilled film..
Loved the humor.. Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel both steal the film..
It isn't better than Cap"Winter Soldier or The Avengers but still good.
Now the cast...
Chris Pratt: good in the role of Peter Quill/Starlord
Zoe Saldana: Okay but could have been better
Cooper/Diesel: Steal the film
Javier Bardem: good, but wanted to see him more..
Karen Gillian: Been a fan since her Doctor Who days, so yeah she is good
Lee Pace: Pretty good villain , good scenes
Dave Batista: He is okay, felt at times he was going to start power bombing folks though
ah, Thanos: 'Nuff said there
Michael Rooker: Good, but slightly underused
all in all I'd give this 8/10

Remember how the IM3 trailer looked darker and more serious, while it turned out silly.GOTG trailer looks silly and childish, but the movie is actually very adult in its comedy. Well paced, well made and the 80s music plays an important role.
Sounds good. And if that's the case it probably will be my kind of Movie.

what did you think of Thanos's portrayal?
I personally was underwhelmed. Thanos wasn't feared. Also I didn't like how he was just dismissed by Ronan.
They could have handled him differently, so as to make him appear menacing. It would have been nice if Ronan didn't have direct communication with Thanos. Thanos could have been too "elite" to grace Ronan with his royal presence. 😄
Hopefully future Marvel installments will atone for Thanos's under-representation.

Spoiler:
Thanos wasn't represented poorly. He was dark, brooding and MANIPULATING. Why do you think he had Ronan go after the gem in the first place? Thanos is the master manipulator my friend. Also, when Ronan walked away from their face to face encounter, Thanos cracked an evil *trademark* Thanos grin. I think Thanos was handled very well. You don't get enough of him so he remains very mysterious, but also we finally get to see him which in and of itself is incredible. Also, as far as Ronan dismissing him...it's not illogical. Think of Superheroes as elite athletes. The best athletes in the world THINK they are the best/ most powerful athlete there is, even if they are not. Ronan, Especially after obtaining an Infinity gem, probably thought (albeit wrong) that he could take Thanos. I had NO problem with that at all, in fact it was for me the coolest part of the whole Movie.
also, use spoilers please.

Well
Spoiler:
Thanos was "suckered" by Ronan and I thought that was a little weird. But Thsnos didn't seem overly concerned about it.

Spoiler:
Thanos was duped. My point from earlier is I don't think he was. If he wanted the gem badly enough he could have easily obtained it himself. Who could stop him? I think instead, he wanted to see what would happen if he sent Ronan on a mission to obtain the gem (kinda like how he played the cosmic powers against each other in the Annihilation storyline). No, Thanos wasn't duped, everything that happened was a result of his planning....which we will see come into fruition in Avengers 3 I believe.
