Douchiest Moment

What?

Cyclops has had his douche moments (it comes with the territory of being a leader), but most of what you just named isn't his fault at all, is untrue, or just plain isn't douchey.

Really, the affair thing is the only one on that list.

Clark's expression is pure gold.

Him leaving Madelyn as soon as jean returned is not his fault? When he got caught with emma his first answer was "we didnt do anything wrong". The better part of Morrisons new x-men run had cyclops brooding over the incident with the twelve (like gambit crying over the morlock tunnel Massacre it gets old real fast). Then he got all self rightious on xavier like a little boy realizing his father is not perfect for the first time (I mean xaviers no saint but come on his girlfriend is the freakin white queen). The better part of this event(as bad as it is) is scotts fault. He is quite the hypocritical d bag. In childrens crusade wiccan even confronts him on how big a hypocrite he is.

He went to see if Jean was alive. Yes, it was poor decision making in not returning to Madelyne sooner (like he said he would), but I don't see how that makes him a douchebag.

It was because it was a psychic affair, not a physical one. Around that time, Morrison had heavily been pushing the theme that to telepaths, psychic actions had as much meaning as real ones to telepaths. Scott's reasoning was that they weren't the same thing, which he later went back on due to his guilt.

His entire world had been shattered by Apocalypse. He saw everything differently after that. I really don't get how him having issues with how he sees the world makes him a douchebag, tbh.

he wasn't mad because Xavier wasn't perfect; he was mad because his own father had mindwiped him and hidden his family from him. How is that not justified?

emma being his girlfriend is inconsequential. She had turned over a new leaf long before, and actually got better because of Cyclops.

Wiccan's wrong, then. Cyclops has suffered major character assassination these last few years, but when written well he's no hypocrite.

Seriously, there are actual events you could use to argue that Cyclops is a douche; I just really think you picked the wrong ones.

It just makes him emo, instead

Pretty much. That was when he started wearing black and growing his hair out. It took him a bit to get through it too.

which in turn makes him a douche

oh. snap.

It's cute watching Pr stick up for Cyke. vin

Reed definitely is a top contender for the title of douchebag-prime :

I see nothing douchey about Reed in those scans.

Yeah.

Normally he's a douche. But he's just keeping it real there.

"Go polish a test tube".

That was code for Reed not getting any ass that night.

Ok , here's a REAL douche-Reed moment :

He wasnt just angry. He threw it in charles face every time he tried to speak with scott (similiar to what beast is doing right now ). At his worst Charles has two major sins, he removed scotts memories of watching his brother die and he psychically influenced amelias decision to stay with him while emma frost (he had a good reason for leaving danger trapped) has mind wiped plenty and murdered just as well yet scott was perfectly willing to cast stones. What does scott do later? He limits xaviers influence around the mutants out of spite but he takes the genocidal killer into his confidence. When xavier warns scott about trusting magneto he throws it in his face again . Typical douche move. And as for the apocalypse incident. He spent the entire run crying about being used by apocalypse and being stuck in his darkness, so what does he do later on, he takes x-23 (a mutant whose trying to escape her dark past as well) and he drops her on a death squad.

the x-men have a history of taking in former villains. and it's different; xavier hid what he did, and made scott believe something else. emma doesn't hide her flaws from cyclops; it's why their relationship works.

you're talking about magneto? if so, yeah, that's part of the character assassination thing i was talking about. no defence against that.

x-force too.

Before X-Men 500, I'll argue til I'm blue in the face that he's not a douche in the real sense of the word. Any of the horrible shit marvel did after that is fair game.

Emma doesnt hide her flaws? She didnt tell him about mindwiping sebastion shaw and she didnt tell him that she and namor have history despite the fact that namor is in front of scotts face all the time scheming to steal her first chance he gets. Emma omits a lot of what she does but thats okay because shes a ***** to begin with versus xavier removing a tragic moment (that basically broke scott) to spare him pain. When X-23 first joined the x-men emma psychically took control of her mind so that the other students could kick her ass in a training session. She got a slap on the wrist when scott found out.

i'm honestly not counting anything after marvel editorial decided to **** them over as a couple and ruin their relationship, so you've got no argument from me on the namor and shaw stuff.

when they were written well as a couple, yes, emma did silly things, but she never misled scott, and he didn't mislead her. they had an intimacy and a trust that's rare in comics, tbh.

emma isn't a ***** to begin with. it's an act she puts on. or at least, it used to be.

xavier did what scott considers to be a violation. it's his right to feel betrayed, imo.

i never said everything emma does is excusable. god knows even scott has told her to rein it in from time to time.

I don't know why they're mad at him - if they hadn't been transformed everyone on Earth (and possibly the universe/multiverse) would be dead several times over.
