Well, George Bush had a majority congress, at one point. He couldn't do much with that, either.

🙂

He probably takes 20 minutes to tie his shoe laces in the morning though.

My point is that unless you get over the sad party politics and partisanship then you'll be stuck in a rut and nothing will ever get done.

Same thing is happening over here...The Conservative government was defeated over a proposal to seek a freeze in real term money given to the EU budget...This wasn't enough for some of the euro-skeptics in their own party who wanted a real term cut in spending to the EU....The labour party seized the opportunity to defeat the government and make them look weak by voting with the conservative rebels and defeating the conservative government...depsite the fact that when Labour were in power they increased the EU spending by some 60% over 10 years and are actually still in favour of spending more in Europe. They seemed to think that getting one over on the other side is more important than sticking to their own policies. And that's what's happening to you lot...Everything is about negative politics and despite promises every election to move away from that kind of negative oneupmanship it gets worse and worse with every election.

I'm hearing that it's neck and neck atm.

Sad, but true.

Bullshit, I decided to not vote Indy or Green and cast one for the darker guy, so he must be winning.

We had 16 candidates on the ballot in random order with Virgil Goode and Merlin Miller at the top. I mean I'm all for freedom of choice but how the **** did the National Socialists of the American Third Position get past the post?

Wow! We only had 5, and one of the choices was "none of these"

Among the myriad of constitutional amendments we need, one should definitely be for instant run off voting setting a limit to ten candidates and requiring none of the above/no confidence to be an 11th choice.
In a way, the fact that Merlin Miller got on the ballot doesn't surprise me considering that I'm seeing more and more Tea Party individuals and groups shilling for Golden Dawn in Greece and calling for the same kind of shit here while saying the "liberal media" are slandering them as neo-fascists despite televising these thugs beating the shit out of socialists on tv.

Actually we need to make it easier for candidates to get on the ballot. I wanted to vote for Jill Stein but she wasn't on the ballot in Nevada so I voted for Gary Johnson. We need to break the Republicratic stranglehold on our political system. We need more parties to make inroads at getting elected to office at all levels of society.

Instant Runoff Voting would help with that immensely.

Can we pick none of them and just find better candidates? No? Damn...

This was similar to an idea I had in one of my American Government classes. I talked about it on KMC, too. I think a "none of the above" idea needs to be part of American culture. We need to get out of this partisan rut.

Awesome choices. 👆

I wish. Oklahoma doesn't have that choice (none of the above) nor was Gary Johnson on the ballot. I didn't vote. 😐

I didn't vote either.

Which one of you is responsible?

Hahaha! Ohh... That gave me a good laugh.
Lucky, it looks beautiful over there. Nice and autumn like.

I think all elections should be limited to one month of campaigning, fundraising (if elections aren't publicly funded), have a none of the above as an option on an instant runoff ballot, and disqualify any of the candidates from running the following month if None of the above wins.

This is a very very good idea. I love the shit out of this idea.

You'll be on my advisory committee.

Oklahoma was the one state he wasn't listed?
