619mill as of the 14th.

Only another 50+ to triple it's budget. I think it will make it.

if it doesn;t than it will come very very close, but yeah it should.. still i have been wondering why WB hasn't officially announced Man of Steel 2 and Justice League

It might come close, Japan should bring 20-25 million alone and MOS is to be released there next month.

As far as a sequel and JL film announcement I suspect at Comic Con this weekend we'll get some info. Most likely not a JL film but at least a MOS sequel.

They're probably waiting for it to triple it's budget Lol. That's the only reason we're all so concerned with box office numbers after all. It doesn't change the quality of the film though.

It will probably end up around 650 or so, which is more than enough, but like I said earlier, WB is having a major change. They just got rid of Legendary and whatnot.

despite these changes tsujihara should not waste time in deciding to make announcements though

You said Tsuihara was a fan of DC properties, right? WB might hold a surprise announcement at comic con. But I'm not holding my breath.

no i don't think i said that.. well they better do something , if they aren't satisfied with how Man of Steel is performing than something is wrong..

If they were expecting Batman type numbers then they will be disappointed and might not be willing to green light a JL movie just yet. But of course they will green light a MOS sequel when it's about to triple it's budget cost in gross earnings.

Batman type numbers won't come until Man of Steel 2 😄 but yeah I agree

You may be right, Batman Begins only did 375 mill ww on a reboot.

Legedary was pretty good and losing them hurts; considerably.

So, what is going on, will there be a sequel? The longer it takes for them to announce it, the more worried I get. If they don't do a sequel then they best get out of the movie making business due to unrealistic expectations. Seriously, how much where they expecting it to make? Did it need to do avengers numbers for them to consider it a success? Well I've got news for them, you can't just start at numbers like that, you need to build up to it. For the start of a cinematic universe and a reboot, MOS did incredible.

MOS has officially grossed more than both Iron Man films now. So as of now MOS has grossed more than the following Marvel films:

4 X-Men films
3 Blade films
2 Fantastic Four films
2 Ghost Rider films
2 Iron Man films
2 Punisher films
2 Hulk films
1 Wolverine film
1 DareDevil film
1 Thor film
1 Captain America film
1 Elektra film
1 Spider-Man film(domestic only)

Not a bad start to a share universe I don't think.

I care more about being good than how much it makes, tbh. I want Snyder to give us a good sequel; whether he does or not, I'm not sure, especially with all of the stuff he has to do to redeem Superman some.

You don't think he did Superman justice?

I think that he laid good groundwork. He gave us a young, impulsive, undeveloped Superman. I want to see him grow in to the guy that we see in the comics; the guy that saves the day, incurs almost no loss of life, and still has time for a pretzel and a picture op.

The "there are fifty ways I could put you down if I wanted to, but I'm giving you the chance to back down" kind of Superman.

That's what I want in the next movie, and that's what I hoped Snyder was building towards. That said, with Batman in the sequel, I'm a tad worried.

I couldn't have said it better myself, except for the Batman part. I've wanted this for a while and Henry Cavill suggested they do this first. I just don't want them fighting. It's obvious Superman would win. Besides, why would Batman fight Superman? Isn't he too smart for that? If they really want to do the fans justice, they'll make their initial meeting similar to what happened in post-crisis.

I think he will grow, but I also think the "realism" they were referring to before the film, meant the realism of super powered beings duking it out in a city. There would be casualties. And as amazing and powerful as Superman is, it really wouldn't be possible to do everything when the villains are every bit as powerful as him.

As for Batman I doubt he's just going to be a Bat kick to Superman's chest for the win. If there is a fight, it will be a Bat Exoskeleton and Kryptonite and all sorts of other factors involved Imo.

Kind of like how people were worried seeing Iron man battle Thor in the Avengers trailer, and in the end it was an IM amped 400% and still ultimately losing.
