Iron Man 3 vs Man of Steel

Mainly reacting to Negative MOS/DC Movies posts.

Marvel is of course way ahead on the big screen. No one's disputing that.

They have the bulk of movies which over time has lead to more disappointments but also the most profitable franchises. Not to mention having their own film studio has done them wonders on the big screen.

WB hasn't had the guts to go for bulk movies, and the one time they try it they overspend on the budget(Green Lantern), which makes them even less likely to try again.

However it's nice to know they still have their 2 big winners. Batman and Superman.

Well I would say it depends on the nergative comments about MoS and DC because it's not like they are perfect so some of the stuff could be true.

Well people whining about MOS is just that-whining.

There's no point whining about MOS , then going on about how IM3 has shredded it, because there's really enough to criticize IM3 as a movie as well.

We all know DC is behind on the big screen, but while some of us are excited about where WB can go with MOS's success, others just seem to be continually rambling on about how ahead Marvel is, and seem to be hoping it always stays that way.

That's what's causing the confrontations on this thread at the moment.

People are entitled to their opinions and yes IM3 had it's holes but so did MoS

Yeah, no movie is perfect.

Think there's a difference between expressing opinions and saying something along the lines of: "Iron Man has completely shredded MOS.. DC should die in shame.." which is clearly confrontational.

Notice the people saying it... The ones who want attention and pointless debates

I wouldn't go that far. Both the last Batman movies made over a Billion without 3d ticket sales. TDK was especially impressive doing that back in 2008.

👆

Avengers is the most successful. That's a fact. IMO it is the best film too.

Those are the extremes the fanboys I tend to try and avoid that shadowy thought process 😛

Of course has been Superman fanboys coming in here and trying to tear down IM3 while building MoS as the best thing since slice bread.

Every character has them I guess 😛

I don't really understand why it matters which movie makes more.

I do see a lack of consistent standards though. For example: Arguing that Superman Returns didn't do so bad if we take into account inflation and yet ignoring inflation when comparing Man of Steel to Iron Man.

I doubt it's the success WB was hoping for compared to Iron Man 3 and such, but it's still a successful movie that will get a sequel.

Bragging rights for some, I guess.

And the whole Marvel > DC thing too, I suppose.

I'm just happy we have good movies.

WB's projection was 700M, which it will do a little less, but so far it's been doing what they have wanted. It's stands at 612M WW, which is damn good.

Not as good as Superman from the 70's. That made 455M domestic, with inflation adjusted.

I read it on IMDB. Boxofficemojo doesn't update WW every day. The poster could be wrong, so take it with a grain of salt.

590mill WW as of the 10th July.

Will easily pass 600mill this weekend. So Grossing close to 700 before it's done still seems plausible.

590 as of july 10 on my website too. I can't see it getting to 650 to be honest

It should, Brazil and Japan open this weekend or next weekend and those should bring another 50 million or more.

It should do as it will easily surpass 600 this wknd. And it's not as if it's going to be out of the theatres soon. Should still be on for a while.
