also, seeing Amell lose his mind over the Flash casting news has been hilarious; it's as if he doesn't realize he's on the CW and isn't good enough to be apart of the DC cinematic universe.
Also I was just under the impression that last episode was one of the many Easter Eggs that Arrow likes to have, that was Ted?!

I'm a little out of the loop, when did this happen? Also I was just under the impression that last episode was one of the many Easter Eggs that Arrow likes to have, that was Ted?!
Here is the quote, published yesterday on CBR:
“I thought that the way Warner Bros. announced the slate of DC movies could have been handled better. I think that someone like Grant Gustin, who has just launched an iconic character like The Flash, to record-breaking numbers — numbers that far surpassed Arrow‘s numbers [...] I think that he should have been given a wider berth than two episodes before another actor was announced to play his character. [...] I thought that it was shitty that all of this stuff got announced the morning that the ratings — the spectacular ratings — of the second episode of The Flash came in.”
And yeah, that was Ted. I got so excited when I noticed him a few episodes back, he was in the ring fighting a match while Ollie and Roy were scrambling around, trying to defuse bombs. But now, after they made him such a weenie, I just feel - bleh.
First, he should be built like Diggle. Second, he should kick Ollie's ass in hand-to-hand.

I tend to agree. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Arrow fan and I think they get most thing very right. But maybe that is why when they get things wrong it's so annoying. Also maybe because I used to love watching Batman The Brave and The Bold and their version of Wildcat was just... Perfect.
Ah well, guess I am just going to have to accept that apparently now Ollie is some kind of martial arts savant who can beat up heavyweight champions with the skills he picked up in the last five years. And then at some stage I assume we are going to see his little sister handing his ass to him with the training she has been doing for the last six months... 😂

Yeah they made Ollie a super badass fighter with very few people that can even keep up. Its cool but it makes it hard to have this guy who fights ninja from a league of legendary assassins lose to a heavyweight champ and make it "believable". I am not taking away from a highly trained fighter but one is a boxer the other beats up on some of the most skilled and highly trained in the world. It might be something else entirely if they showed him not as just a boxer but great at h2h altogether(like he should be).....oooh and give him his 9 lives.

what are those things they get very right?
For one thing, I think most of the casting is excellent. Stephen Amell is awesome as Arrow, and I simply cannot imagine anyone else in the lead role. David Ramsay, Paul Blackthorne, Emily Bett Richards, John Barrowman - all were cast really well, imo. Even Brandon Routh is a pleasant surprise, considering I detested him in Superman Returns. Some characters irritate me but usually it is not the actor or actress's fault - it's more how the character is written.
I think the action is pretty awesome as well. There is a bit too much drama and too little humour for my taste in some episodes, but from the beginning, watching Stephen Amell doing those training exercises, it was clear that both he and the action choreographer were serious about working hard to make the action sequence much better than most other shows like Supernatural or any of the other shows it would be competing with. I think only Person of Interest comes really close when it comes to decent action/combat/fighting scenes at the moment.
Most of the time, I also like the narrative. While I think the flashbacks can be a bit overused, it does make it possible to tell two stories at the same time, so if you get bored with what is happening in the present, you can still watch it to find out what happened in the past. This combined with a mostly decent cast makes for some pretty interesting characters at times and some unexpected events - for instance, the death of Shadow which was punished by Slade killing Ollie's mom caught me a bit by surprise - in a lot of shows Ollie would have saved her the way Felicity's mom was saved. Same with Sarah - I thought she was in for the long haul.
Anyway, like I said, I don't think the show is perfect - but I think some things they get right more often than wrong.

I saw the video where he says that, and he wasn't losing his mind at all. All he said was they could have handled the announcement better than announcing it right after the second episode of Flash.
And I agree, even if they aren't sharing Universes, the movie side of things and tv side should at least be talking to each other and planning things in a way that's beneficial to both.

How can he be the heavyweight champion, who's been doing this professionally his whole life, and then get his ass kicked by somebody who has only been training for five years?
LOL
You expect Ollie to get his butt kicked by any Professional Boxing Champion just because they've trained longer?
WTF man?
They'd be no show if that was the case. If all the Police or Criminal gangs needed to do in Season 1 was hire a Professional Boxer to take him down!

Wow. Just... Wow.
Congratulations - if there was a prize here at KMC for taking somebody's comments out of context then you just knocked out the reigning champion. Since you clearly barely looked at what I originally wrote, I suppose because you couldn't bother to look at my first post, I suppose I will have to repeat myself. Sigh...
I expressed my disappointment about two things:
One - I would have liked to have seen a Ted built more like a Diggle. He was originally created as a heavyweight champion, and a personal preference would have been a bulkier guy, somebody with massive upper body strength, somebody who looked as if he would knock you the f... out and put you in the hospital if you made him angry enough.
Two - I also expressed my regret that they have chosen to portray a lesser-skilled, younger Wildcat. The Wildcat I knew and liked trained not only Canary, but also Batman and even Superman, which was why the members of the Justice League treated him with so much respect, even though he was so much older than most of them.
These were personal preferences I expressed, because I liked and grew up with the original comics and cartoons. Attacking me simply because I dared express a personal preference seems a bit... uncalled for, don't you think?
Isn't it just as easy to agree or disagree and say what it is that you like or don't like about the show, instead of attacking me because my preferences and opinions differ from yours?

I see in your whole crazy rambling you've not even addressed your point which I queried.
A point not taken out of context at all.
Here it is again for you:

This was truly an idiotic comment for anyone who watches the show.

Yeah, now this would have been a change that I would have supported 😉 Some kind of ex MMA/UFC heavyweight champion, instead of a boxer. Since Wildcat was created before these kinds of contests really existed, that would have been a positive, modern update that would have made sense, instead of just depowering him to make Ollie look good. Ah, well...

Edit- Just realized next Arrow episode is the Flash crossover. So Boomerang might be set up for that.
Yeah I remember seeing the casting and was surprised to see they had added old digger to Arrow. I think you are right though probably set up for that.

Why does he need to be concerned about that, when his Tv show is still good (for the most part) and really kicked off all these comic book superhero Tv shows we're now getting?
He said WB has an excellent plan, and he talked to Geoff Johns about where WB is taking the whole thing, and he came out of that conversation very happy about their whole plan. So not sure where you're getting he's butthurt.

Well it was a bit of a slap in the face to Grant Gustin. Announcing a completely different actor whose going to play The Flash in the movies, just as Grant's got started in the role on Tv.
Unlike Marvel where they have their big screen outings helping out their small screen outings by doing things like putting the new trailer for Avengers with a new AOS episode when it airs.
Let's face it WB/DC hasn't got anywhere near that kind of close relationship between their Tv and Movie outings.
