In the previous teaser it looked like Felicity would die in some gas chamber.
Then in the actual episode when all three of them were in the chamber, I knew nothing would happen. But I still had hope, wouldn't have cared if they all died actually.
How Felicity "died" was stolen from 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'.

The show has killed Tommy and Oliver's hot mom. That's something right?
So I've been catching up on the series, I'm on episode 17 of the 3rd season so far. Dear lord the flashbacks..just, I hate the flashback scenes. I skip them now automatically. Flashbacks for Oliver, flashbacks for some villains, flashbacks for everyone. Soon they will be having a flashback of their flashbacks.
Now on episode 2 of season 4..everyone in this show is basically a hypocrite. Captain Lance is sure fine to bash Oliver for his choices, but getting in bed with Damien Dark? Cool. Diggle is sure to bash Oliver for his lack of trust..despite not immediately being forthcoming about his own potential information about The Hive.
Thea also seems to defend Malcolm until finding out he knew Oliver was the Arrow. Which is all kinds of bizarre. She was of the Darth Vader mindset of "trying to save your kid absolves you of all sins". They also continue to see she is unstable and still let her fight crime because..reasons.
*Notices now there was not only flashbacks, but a flash forward as well*

Meh. I was more miffed that she replaced Roy than any of that.
He was still working with some dude behind peoples backs because he thought it was best for the city. Why can he step outside the law, but nobody else can?
I also feel sorry for Ray, Felicity treated him like utter dog shit. Now this season she just seems extra bitchy. Why is it tv shows sometimes confuse being strong and independent with being bitchy?
But those aren't plot holes those are just characters doing stupid shit. Like to the point where how could you not expect some shit to happen if you go propose in public after doing what Oliver did? It's almost like they did it on purpose because they have a secret plan and faking Felicity's death is a part of that.

IMO, Felicity will either become Oracle or they will move her to Legends of Tomorrow
