I'm really interested on seeing what MS will do with Blizzard...I have been reading reports that Activision wanted Blizzard to produce COD type numbers on all their games....

Which probably mean no more Starcraft games...no more RTS games.....

So if Microsoft can get them to start produce new games in their old franchises.....I think that would be a good thing. Hell, maybe even a new IP.

It's kind of nuts that MS has the majority of shooters (Wolfenstein, COD, Halo, Doom, Quake), a good amount of western style RPGs and now old schoool RTS franchises haha...kinda crazy.

IPs aren't controlled by consoles or servers like ms & Bethesda etc..it's called umbrella dust.

Sony spent 3.6 billion on Bungie and they won't even go exclusive... Sony got absolutely fleeced. 😂

Hmm....maybe that is only for Destiny. What about any new games they produce?

Bungie says all future games that they are working on will be multiplatform.

I think that's the key. Games that are currently being worked on.

Speaking of Bungie, anyone play that Marathon port that's been floating around since forever?

Any good?

So basically what MS is doing with some of the Bethesda games that Sony paid for to be a launch exclusive.

Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo.

Yeah, I imagine if there's a Destiny 3 it will still be multiplatform because it's a game as a service type game, and those are beneficial if they're multiplatform because more players means more money.

But any future single player games, aside from whichever one they're currently working on, will probably be PS exclusives.

The question is...would Sony enforce them to make a single player only title...it's kind of their jam.

What would be the point buying a developer then if they weren't gonna have 'em make an exclusive?

Money. The reason why Microsoft is still releasing Minecraft on all platforms. It's worth more than just releasing on one console.

Live service type games like Destiny are probably better on all platforms than sticking to one.

If they make single-player only games, I can see it being exclusive.

I didn't mean Destiny being exclusive, I meant why Sony wouldn't have Bungie make another game exclusive. Halo isn't a small thing, part of likely why scooping up Bungie is hoping to convert some Xbox players 'cause there is power in names & titles and having a game with the caption on the back "From the creators of Halo" might entice some still.

It's certainly evident with Back 4 Blood where despite only 7 people left Valve to go form Turtle Rock and made Evolve soon after, "From the creators of Left 4 Dead" is the most spammed sales pitch 'cause it (unfortunately) works and B4B is getting the player numbers.

Bungie should make a counter to halo, like boomerang

Maybe.....who knows.

Nah. First, even if Bungie does go exclusive it will take a long time as they say the current game "in development" will be multi-platform which would presumably include games in the beginning stages. More importantly, Bungie is to remain an "independent subsidiary", will self-publish their games, and they've put a large focus on remaining multi-platform over this merger. Heck, its apparently even in the contract.

Like I said, this looks to be a stupid move by Sony.

Huh....so this is either a panic buy?
Or the money is good enough to take a bigger piece of Bungies cash....

Imagine if they had Bungie make the next Killzone game.

How funny would that be? Bungie, the creator of Halo, making a game in the biggest advertised "halo killer" franchise.

Also I really doubt this was a panic buy or that Sony hasn't been circling this for months. Things like this aren't just done on a whim. Probably been in the works for months.

It would be hilarious....haha.

If I was Bungie....I would be like "um no"...Killzone sucks.
Thought the last Killzone game wasn't too bad.

2 had the biggest robot though.

Killzone 2 is so dark, brown and jaggy.....I find it hard to play.

Humanity fighting an alien threat, scenic views of giant ships hovering over, swapping between alien guns, feral zombie type enemies swarming you, the protagonist being a form of super soldier, etc. Resistance would be more up Bungie's alley.
