Current Gen Console Discussions (PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch (Pro?) OFFICIAL THREAD

I think killzone 2 is very underrated. Really enjoyed that game and the atmosphere.

I agree though, I think Resistance would fit Bungie better. More fast paced action oriented like Bungie's games tend to be.

Would love to see Resistance make a comeback.

It should be humiliating how PlayStation treats its audience babying them.

Hmm, interesting.

I didn't even realize Horizon was coming out next week...considering the first game is top 5 from last gen...I'm looking forward to it and was going to play it on PS5.

Well...I don't have and not a single retailer in Canada seems to have it.....so I might just get the PS4 version....assuming its not crap and terrible on the OG PS4.

It'll probably be fine on the PS4.

You are probably right.

I have gotten used to these titles being 60FPS. One of the benefits of having all these new games being released on both generations (which turned into a blessing considering the lack of availability) is that they are around 60FPS if using the performance option.

The reviews are out now and it sounds like the game provides a solid experience on the base PS4. Graphics are apparently a little better than Horizon Zero Dawn on the console.

Though if I were in your shoes I'd probably just wait until I could play it on the PS5, the difference is pretty night and day.

Finding a PS5 or Xbox Series X in Canada at MRSP.....might be 1 year from now. Luckily, I have a Series X

I will probably pick it up on base PS4...then play games a few years from now once I get a PS5.

Is it more difficult in Canada than in the US?

There are ways. Follow certain people on twitter and download the stock alert app. That's how I was able to get both consoles.

I'm not sure but I find it extremely barren in the last month...even 2 months.
And if they hit stock....its gone in like 10 minutes.

I'm not going around looking for one on a daily basis so that might contribute.

This could be easily resolved if MS & Sony would just make a good chunk of their console stock physical retail exclusive. You still might get beaten in the foot race but least you'll have a higher chance compared to racing a damn bot on the internet.

But they won't! Obviously! Even if they lose out on the masses, long as that one ass#ole keeps buying them up, the execs will use that beta cuck to brag "look at all these units sold! So many gamers love us!" with no intellectual reporter in sight asking Phil or Jim "so how many of these units are used online or even active?" and that's where they'd fumble.

I think that's more about the retailers than MS and Sony....

I think it's retailers not bothering figuring out how to make a storefront that cannot be utilized by bots.

Gamestop could. Microsoft's partnered with them after all. Rectify that s**t.

Also, on an unrelated note, now that Xbox owns Double Fine, mass produce physical copies for Psychonauts 2 already!

Yes, these retailers could figure something out.

It's a combination of lack of semiconductors, bots, pandemic and huge demand.

Huge demand which is hardly met and caused by bots. This is a real freaking embarrassment.

Really, it shouldn't be hard. Just have some consoles not on their online shelves so they're only for pick up.

The global chip shortage is a massive cause of this problem as well...its not just bots.

We've only come to the point of component shortages after letting scalpers have their way buying so many, so fast than people would get them normally.

That's absolutely not true at all. The global chip shortage is not due to scalpers buying up product.

https://www.cpacanada.ca/en/news/pivot-magazine/2021-12-23-chip-shortage#:~:text=The%20chip%20shortage%20is%20the,chips%E2%80%94to%20some%20Chinese%20firms.&text=And%2C%20as%20demand%20rose%2C%20supply%20chains%20slowed.

But you're saying the chip shortage is why so few systems are being made now while scalpers still scalping on just said few. So the problem is still scalpers...good to know.

I said its a combination of things.

"It's a combination of lack of semiconductors, bots, pandemic and huge demand."

If supply was not an issue, there wouldn't be a huge secondary market. Scalpers only exist when the demand is very high. For example, Toronto Blue Jays were terrible for a decade, ticket prices were stagnant and you can buy a ticket 5 minutes before the game started. You went to scalpers to get tickets at a discount....

And then they become good, really quickly and everybody wanted tickets. Tickets were 50% off from scalpers at the start of the season...and by the end, they were selling normal seats for $2000.

Same thing with consoles....that's why you see huge markup at console launch and usually, by the end of the year, you can walk in and get a console easily.

That's not happening because the supply is so small. Bots do make it worst...100% percent but this whole situation is due to a combination of many factors, most importantly, the lack of chips.
