Iwata is the President of the company. He came be outed if the need arises that consoles are not profitable while their software can be.
It isn't about resiliency. It's about money. If the Wii U doesn't pick up and the successor to the Wii U is not a breakthrough success as the Wii then how could Nintendo justify staying in the console business.
Handheld is another matter all together.
You actually think there is no people out there who are willing to pay money for Zelda/Mario games but not shell out $400 bucks to play them?
It can come back. I think it will probably sell the same amount of units the GameCube did.
It might not be sold at a loss but does that include the cost to market, research and develop it? How about support costs? There is other things that make consoles unprofitable other than being sold as a loss.
As well, this has nothing to do with bankruptcy. The question is about Nintendo getting out of the console business because that section of the company is unprofitable. For example, Sony PC/TV/Movie/Music sections are not as profitable as before while their Playstation division is. If Sony stops producing PC's, this will be exactly what Nintendo could do. They could stop producing consoles but keep their software and handheld division because it's profitable....

But that is speaking about something we have no idea about. I'm speaking purely about going software only right now, which i think is unneeded. if they fail 10 years down the line who knows, but now anything could happen with new stuff just as it did with the gamecube.

Speaking of which, how about their defamation of two Nintendo franchises: Mario and Zelda?! They have no f**king right!

TBH, I sometimes forget Philips is still in business.
Yeah... doing shitall. What do you do when you struggle to keep your head above financial water? You sue someone who's always (for damn good reason) been better than you. I'm sorry, but this sort of thing just makes me f**king sick.
