Current Gen Console Discussions (PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch (Pro?) OFFICIAL THREAD

I'm getting a bit worried regarding some of these co-op online titles.

The Division looks very cool but I hate how it's "online" and it's about playing with your friends and blah blah blah. Well you know what! I don't have friends that game that hardcore so unless the SP campaign is worthwhile, no luck buying.

Rainbow 6 Siege is the same thing. No word about a campaign (a staple in any Tom Clancy game) and it's all co-op online modes....****, again, the same problem exists. Also, on Steam right now, regular edition for Seige is $79 bucks in my country. **** you Ubisoft.

Same with new Ghost Recon. It's crazy how all Ubisoft shooters/action games are starting to look the ****ing same.

Another one is Hitman......a pure SP game but now added with a pointless online component. At first, an open world game made a lot of sense but releasing content gradually and having assassination contracts that are one time things with a timer...**** that...that's not Hitman.

****......

I was just looking at the prices for games in Canada and some are being sold at $79. With 13 percent tax, that's about 90 bucks for a ****ing videogame.

**** you.

Jesus. Is that more than they've been in the past?

Yeah. I'm getting sick of these developers thinking they can give us games with out SP campaigns.

Yep.

Last gen started around $69 but went down to about $59. Lately, it was either $64 or $69 but most games that are upcoming are now $79.

It's to do with the weak dollar we have but I think that's bullshit. It's just a convenient excuse to charge 80 bucks.

Which is brutal considering most of these games are turning into MP only games....

But it seems that the Xbox store is still selling the games at $69 so it might be a question of buying digitally (which I don't do on consoles) or buying it through MS and getting it shipped.

So they also don't include the tax in the price in Canada?

Nope!

Some digital platforms don't have tax but all stores do not include it even if they have online stores as well.

YouTube video

A video wherein Jim Sterling claims Nintendo had the best conference of E3. A ballsy statement sure to get him a lot of hate from Sony and Microsoft fans. The best part?

Nintendo filed a copyright claim against it.

Well he's saying that he was the most entertained by the Nintendo presentation, and says he thinks that's what matters most. Which I guess is fair enough, I feel like most people actually are more interested in game announcements and the futures of the companies platform and think that's the most important thing...

How come no one commented about this?

The fact that there was NO POKEMON announcement!!

****in' disgrace from Nintendo! I was waiting for a Gen4 remake announcement. At least a hint that we'll be getting Mega/Primal Arceus.

I have yet to decide what console to get first (still playing through my backlog of PS3 and X360 games, as well as a lot of Wii U).

Up untill this E3 It did seem like I would go for the PS4, as the X1 really do not have any exclusive games I want (whereas the PS4 has Uncharted), and in general I've heard better things about the PS4.

However, backwards-compatability is really a big deal for me, and this latest announcement has me reviewing what I should get. For now I guess it depends on the list of backwards compatible games as it stands this fall.

Both are good consoles. Both have ups and downs in my opinion. Get the console for what games you want.

Personally, Xbox One gets a lot of flak from something that happened two years ago and the perceived lack of power but I like using the console better than the PS4. As for games, it's personal opinion but it's a fact that the PS4 does not have any exclusives coming out this year. For them, 2016 looks like a big year but even though I ****ing love Uncharted, Uncharted 4 does look the same as all the other ones.

All in all, both systems are great.

Best solution: Get both.
😂

On a more serious note, most games to be released on both consoles are timed exclusives. The only trade-off is some will take longer than others, probably years even (FFVII and Shenmue [if it gets funded by Sony]).

As far as exclusive goes, it's a matter of personal taste.
I'm more fond of action-adventure games, and that's where PS4 has the edge (TLG, Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn).
XBone seems to have more FPS games and Western RPGs going for it (Halo 5, Gears 4).

I know Horizon Zero Dawn looked great and I'm totally interested in it but this is Guerrilla Games. They really haven't set the game world on fire with any of their games. I enjoyed Shadow Fall but it didn't do anything new gameplay wise.

Interesting, what WRPG exclusives does the X1 have?

I will eventually get both I think, like I did last gen, but the question is which one first?

Not sure.....

I think it's based on individual series and/or developers.

I bought an PS4 for Naughty Dog and MLB The Show (**** you 2k for eliminating the superior MVP Baseball)

I bought an Xbox One for everything else and I enjoy the exclusives more.

This just in, Satoru Iwata has passed away...

Goodnight sweet prince, the end of an era, etc.

After much consideration I have finally figured out that I will be getting an Xbox One, over a PS4.

I've done a lot of research, considered esxclusives on both consoles etc.

My final conclusion is that, in the end and for all intent and purpose, the two systems are basically identical. This means that the battle of exclusives will have to decide.

As to the exclusives part, both systems have exclusives that I want, the PS4 has Infamous and Uncharted, Xbox has Tomb Raider and Cuphead. Again the point is moot.

The final things that now push me over to the Xbox One instead of the PS4, is backwards compatability possibilities, and the price point.

Two products that to me are identical, I will always for the most economic choice, and here the PS4 is $100 more expensive than the Xbox One, and that is the final deciding factor.

It would agree with the reasoning. As well, who knows if Sony is going to release another Infamous. Infamous: Second Son wasn't a huge seller and didn't really do well critically (or at least having a lasting impression).

I bought a PS4 after an Xbox One because of baseball and Naughty Dog. Also, there is no doubt that the PS4 does better graphically than the competitor but I have found that it's at the expense of the frame rate. Getting to 1080p is that "it" thing but as the Witcher 3 has shown, the frame rate suffers. I rather have 900 something but not frame rate issues.
