and ddm, you are just attempting to negate all the obviously conflicted backstory (luke longing for his father and anger at ben) from esb and foreshadowing to the inevitable conflict in luke
Not at all but you're trying to portray Luke as an evil to borderline evil, selfish, character when he wasn't that character at all. In fact, you're ignoring that Luke wanted to redeem his father and help the rebels succeed. So where is this angry, borderline evil, Luke of which you speak? I didn't see that Luke in ESB or RotJ.
And Luke was hardly conflicted with Vader's offer to rule the galaxy in ESB.
And when Luke got angry at the Emperor and Vader...it wasn't out of evilness. He was angry at the Emperor for slaughtering his friends and Vader's threat against Leah: hardly "evil" and conflicted. It was Luke's ability to overcome that anger and cast it aside (metaphorically and literally when he threw his lightsaber down in RotJ) that showed us the fully complete and resolute Luke (which is why I do not think the ST can have anything to do with Luke being tempted to fall to the dark side).
Lastly, Luke was hardly angry with Obi Wan. It was a fleeting moment of anger, at best. He was more or less irritated with Kenobi, not "turn to the darkside and forever forsake the path of righteousness" angry.

which just about everyone else saw coming.
lol! I am not sure where you could have arrived at anything I stated that I assumed I did not think Luke would have to face his inner-conflict and then overcome it. That makes no sense to state since my original point was Luke did just that. Maybe you including the world "else" out of habit but did not intend that?
