Why do we all gravitate toward the big names with established careers and styles? Remember how Irvin Kershner and Richard Marquand, two guys I'm sure most of us would have to look up in order to remember their names, directed two awesome Star Wars films? Independents and low-profile and they turned out two of the best sci-fi films ever. That's why I'm hoping that if Disney picks a big name director, they just let them do it in their own style, without restricting them in a vain attempt to recapture the feel of films that are 30+ years old.
Then it is settled: I'll be directing Episode VII. 😐
And for focus' benefit, it will have at least one poop joke and an obligatory R2D2 "WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

Dope.
Edit:
Or is it just a rumor: http://gizmodo.com/5978807/dubious-imperial-rumor-jj-abrams-will-direct-next-star-wars?utm_campaign=socialflow_gizmodo_facebook&utm_source=gizmodo_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow
God damn it.
Another report confirms it.

What will the Star Trek fans think?
I guess J.J. got over his personal hangup of being too much of a Star Wars fan that he wouldn't want to touch it.

internet news has been damn sloppy as of late. far worse than pre-ep3 with otherwise reputable sites reporting false alarm rumors as 'matter of fact'.
oh yes...my point:
"Misunderstood… A couple of friends at Disney were fantasizing about the new STAR WARS movies. ”Disney” has said nothing to me and I expect nothing. That a couple of friends were wishing is only an expression of the hope that many are sharing but says nothing regarding the Studio itself. Even if ‘they’ did ask, which Disney has not, I’d rather leave the new films to the next generation to interpret. I’ve had my time and they were exceptional blessings for which I will forever be grateful. Tomorrow is a new day…drew" -Drew Struzan
