I don't think those opinions can be called "fact" when it is all fiction and opinion on which fiction they hold more important. The fact would be an official, canon, declaration exists (it is a fact that x exists).

You're correct: it is a matter of definitional qualities of the word "fact" mixed with the philosophy of "knowledge". GL has commented on this and you (ambiguous you) can choose which fiction you want. Sure, there is an official declaration, but nothing about that makes any of the fictional stories facts anymore than the other stories.
