Tell it to the fans who'll keep maintaining that the EU is more canon than the new movies.

well they would be factually incorrect in calling it canon. they may personally choose to disacknowledge what they see as crap...example: for me, the PT just didnt happen. however its still canon and i wouldnt argue otherwise.

I don't think those opinions can be called "fact" when it is all fiction and opinion on which fiction they hold more important. The fact would be an official, canon, declaration exists (it is a fact that x exists).

Indeed.

it's not a matter of fan opinion. though feel free to argue it into the ground. its always funny watching these episodes play out.

I am doing an acrobatic pirouette right the fvck off the handle right now!

You're correct: it is a matter of definitional qualities of the word "fact" mixed with the philosophy of "knowledge". GL has commented on this and you (ambiguous you) can choose which fiction you want. Sure, there is an official declaration, but nothing about that makes any of the fictional stories facts anymore than the other stories.

Way to be a pedant.

Me pointing out the problem with the idea that one canon is fact over another is a fact is not being pedantic. They are generally separate universes (the EU and the movie stuff).

wrong

Ok, well, I loathe all arguments about canon (whether that's debating what fits or debating what it means in the first place), so let's leave it there. There's already a thread in the EU area about the potential 'invalidation' of the EU, if you want to discuss that there.

its a silly topic anyway.

Yuuuuup!

K. I'll avoid the topic, in the future, as well.

thats a good boy.

There is a EU Forum, you know.
