No, actually Thanos was (not for the first time), merely the appetiser. Ebony Maw was the main villain/schemer. Thanos got his arse handed to him - as we all knew he would - by his plot device son, who fell under the influence of the Maw.Aside from the, now ritual humiliation of Thor, there was little that Thanos actually got to do (which is what people have complained about, regarding this "finale"😉. Thanos looked impressive for all of ... hmm, 3 pages? And then Thane, a recently introduced character with no personality or emotional weight, just zapped him out of commission.
Marvel should leave him to die in piece, if they can't do anything dignified with him. Either he's a suppository to be bunged up the arsehole of a deathless universe or he's killed off by his "superior n every way" son that he had been making so much effort to kill.
Out schemed by his own henchman (Ebony Maw) and left to be nothing more than a newly minted boxed collector's item toy for The Illuminati. Discarded and dismissed.
Thane had plot device powers far greater than Hulk. That's all. New character and all and Hulk gets beaten by a girl.

Steve was knocked out. Hyperion arrived back at the battlefield with Captain Marvel after Iron Man came in. And Hulk was Bruce Banner... only Thor might have been awake at the time.

But admitting she spite stomps Hulk is surely indicative of thinking Thanos couldn't beat Hulk. As long as you beef her up, Thanos can't do the same.

'cos it seems to me he gravely miscalculated, both in his own ability to kill his son and in his choice of Ebony Maw as henchman.
Maw walked away with his life and with Thanos' son. Maw manipulated Thane into ending Thanos, not a good reflection on Thanos.
