I just saw this. I thought it had its moments, but the story sucked. Villains were terrible, plot felt forced and Rhino was a robot.

I will say though, Andrew Garfield is awesome as spiderman

Yeah rhino being a robot did kinda suck but then again rhino sucks period sooooooooooooooooooooo.

Even Paul Giamatti can do just so much with an afterthought.

They decided to go with the ultimate version of Rhino where he is a Robot.

Not surprising a lot of Marvel movies have been bringing in influences from the Ultimate Universe for their Franchises.

Spider-Mans webbing doesn't dissolve in these movies

Some of them are stupid anyway for the Ultimate verse....alot of the normal can still work.

I'm actually surprised that people are disappointed in Rhino. The guy is an absolute joke in the comics, what we got in the film is really the best they could have done (he still sucked in the film though).

Frankly, how they butchered the Green Goblin and Electro is far more concerning. Electro was an absolute joke throughout the flick. Harry, however, was great up until he became the Goblin... Plus, the Goblin/Spider-man fight was an absolute travesty.

Wow. Talk about over criticism.

The movie had faults but was overall entertaining. Goblin was a huge improvement on the Ramai version, and seeing Electro in action was the highlight of the movie.

But I agree the Goblin/Spidey fight was pretty meh.

The fact that the first fight was awesome, does not mean Electro was a good villain. And I'd take the Dafoe Goblin over this one any day.

To each his own. That Dafoe Goblin mask still gives me nightmares (for all the wrong reasons!)

Edit- And find the Dafoe Goblin vs Spidey amongst the lamest supervillain fights ever.

The mask wasn't that great, but Dafoe's acting as Norman was brilliant.

In general, the story and acting of the original movies was better. TASM has better fights and more comedy.

I hated the whole back story with Peters parents. The fact that they're scientists responsible for Peters powers, sort of, takes away that specialness of him becoming spiderman. If that makes sense.

And you don't think Dehaan killed it with his performance?

Really? You honestly think the acting of Maguire and Dunst even touches Garfield's and Stone's?

As for the story, it was fine for SM1, but as the films went on, it just became really stupid (for the big screen) how everyone connected to Peter Parker just happen to be caught in random "accidents" which turns them into super villains.

At least Webb's series has taken itself more seriously in that respect and put in the effort to centralize everything through Oscorp as the source of all the super powered beings in the films.

Plus Webb's take on Spider-Man is just 1000% spot on. That's a big big improvement on Ramai's and a kind of important thing to get right really.

Ah they had to give us a different and maybe more in depth take on Spidey's origin when they rebooted it, so as not to just repeat the same origin.

And I think it kind of adds to Peter Parker's specialness the fact that only HE could have become Spider-Man.

Anyway this pretty much sums up my thoughts on Ramai's trilogy:

But bare in mind I still say Ramai's Spider-Man 2 is the best Spider-Man movie to date, but I prefer Webbs series and the direction it is going.

👆

Goblin may have looked like s*** in Rami's films, but everything else was great.

LOL Now HE was a true Schumacher villain!

The fact that Peter Parker was just a normal kid, who was bullied and nerdy and in love with a girl way out of his league really appealed to me. Spiderman was the story of an ordinary kid becoming a superhero. It was about something special happening to someone unspecial. The whole back story in TASM betrays the idea of Peter Parker being ordinary.

Dehaan was great, but nothing memorable. Dafoe was brilliant.

The Maguire/Dunst dynamic was different from the Garfield/Stone dynamic. Comparing the two is unfair considering they were completely different relationships.

I will say though, Garfield is an awesome spiderman. I didn't like Electro or Harry Osborne though

Just saw the movie. It is by far the best spiderman movie. Finally a true depiction of spiderman. I though it was a great movie that was done very well.

I can't say I understand some the of the complaints made concerning the movie.

No Peter Parker was never someone "ordinary". He was always exceptional. A resl genius. Ramai's Spider-Man failed to depict that properly. The Dunst / Maguire relationship was terrible and not believable in the least.
