without WW's success this would have blown up by now.

That’s my point. They needed more successful Solo films to build up to this, otherwise as far as audiences are concerned it’s just a generic team movie like the X-Men or Fantastic Four.

There was a Superman solo film, but he’s been left out of the marketing to hide the “surprise”. Too risky a move with no other Solo films, and they’re now paying the price for the rush into JL.

It’s still early yet, but initial Sunday estimates looking at £96mill OW.

Epic failure for DC Movies.

Superman isn't a character people are dying to see. The problems with the films are the utter quality wise disasters of Batman v. Superman and Suicide Squad. This film though an improvement on those disasters still has glaring flaws. The movies budget is staggering and the cgi is a huge eyesore throughout the film. The villain is flat out terrible so there's obviously blame from the top down to dish out.

Mcu is where it's at and dceu at best can try to ape the studio and be the runner up. DC fans don't even really argue anymore. They have accepted reality save the few deluded still out there.

I thought the Flash actually worked in this film. As I said though the only character I care to really delve into is WW. I'd like a new gods film but the dopes at Warner bros. would rather focus on Shazam.

Flash was all right, and I like the idea of his outfit functioning more as a crash suit than a costume. But he didn't do anything that outdid Quicksilver's best feats in the X-Men movies. And he's very much the Peter Parker stand in for DC here, something DC seems to have been pushing since The New 52. Just as Batman is Nick Fury & Iron Man in one, Aquaman is like Thor mixed with Wolverine, and Superman is actually like the Hulk in Avengers, the dangerous one they worry about (and just like Hulk they fight him. he goes away for a while, then comes back with a smile and helpful attitude in the climax.)

Yup. 96mill OW.

They should reboot.

Or just forget the whole shared universe thing. It’s not worked for them.

They must be counting heavily on Flashpoint now to pull a Days Of Future Past and create a much better, sunnier present day DCEU, at this point.

Just waiting now to see if the CEO at Warner Bros. pays for this with his job.

I think anyone who greenlighted Snyder making this movie should lose their jobs. You know they also signed him on to direct JL2? Lol

They last said that in March. Since then he's left his own movie and they brought in someone else to finish it/make it totally different. If there's an ounce of sanity in those suits at Warners, Zack Snyder does not come back for another DC film. They must finally understand that he's toxic to the vast majority of DC fans and the media.

A start date for JL 2 isn't even on the table anymore.

If this Snyderverse does get blown up, I do hope they stick with a shared universe.. I want to see the DC characters portrayed PROPERLY from the start. And yah WB, I know you don't WANT to make solo movies for your characters but guess what, it has seriously hurt BVS and JL that you don't have a history established for most of the characters in them. You NEED to make solo movies to help out your team-ups.....sigh. I don't like the Snyderverse...but JL was a step in the right direction. Still...96 million OW....that's painful.

Im a comic fan and a movie fan, but I can understand why movie critics (and general audience) that know nothing of comics would not like the film or thought it was flawed. They are not watching the movie knowing what the characters are capable of in the comics. They are watching to be entertained by a movie that should be well structured, have a fairly easy plot to follow, hopefully decent acting, few plot holes, good character development, good dialog, etc.

I already said I thought the movie was ok. It could have been better for sure.
All im saying is that a movie shouldn't get an auto pass because "SUPERMAN JUST LIFTED THAT BUILDING!!!XD", and he stomped everything in his path without breaking a sweat, when the movie had glaring problems. Especially making the other members of the JL look useless.

I liked FLASH. You know why? Besides his persona which was pretty good. They didnt make Flash go 1000000000000 X the speed of light, just because "its in duh comix!"
He wasnt using hax dumb speed force nonsense. He was making mistakes and fit in well with having superpowers but not making him ridiculous.
Thats what I think they got right "for the sake of the movie"
Little things like this help make these movies better. Using the source material but not if it makes the movie ridiculous and in this case the other members of the League and Villain irrelevant.

How many people do you think gave the film a pass purely because Superman did some cool shit? Genuine question.

Superman wasn't written as a mary sue at all. He needed a big return, sure, but just because they wouldn't win without him doesn't mean he was capable of doing it all himself.

The movie has its problems, sure, but exaggerating the Superman thing isn't very fair, imo.

So are you saying you wanted the characters to be weaker than they are in the comics? They already are, and that includes Superman.

Holy crap it's gonna happen: Justice League - the Justice League!!!! - isn't going to clear a billion unless it does Fast and Furious franchise esque numbers at the international box office.

I've been a lifeline DC (especially Supes and Bats) fan: Keaton and Reeve and Conroy and Hamill as a kid. Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, and Nolan Dark Knight trilogy as a adult. Burned through Young Justice twice as a dad at home with my kids. Wife loves the Flash TV show. Own and read through a couple of times each: Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, Kingdom Come, Justice, Watchmen, The Long Halloween. Played plenty of DC video game adaptations.

I say all that to say this: somehow WB took some of the richest lore from which you can take and adapt into movies (and had already been adapted for the big screen), finally creates their shared universe, and it's sinking.

It's currently not beating Thor: Ragnarok in China, which has already been out for three weeks.

This probably isn't going to make 600 million.

This is the end of the DCEU as we know it, I'm calling it now as you heard it here first.

RIP DCEU 2013-2017.

Nah, he didn't officially sign on anything, not to my knowledge. Its pretty evident that Snyder won't be back on any DC movie after everything that has happened. Solo movies are next.

Maybe, but 700 isn't going to happen.

@Darth Thor

Well if one of them actually had their own movie already instead of wasting a film on Suicide Squad, then that’d might have been different.

Flash has his own TV series...

This probably isn't going to make 600 million.

At the very least, you might want to put 2019. Aquaman and SHAZAM are still coming out.

I'm calling it now, Shazam will be pulled from production, it's not too late for that but you're right Aquaman is still on the boards.

At least the DC fans have the CW shows to watch.

Watch Crisis on Earth-X be better than Justice League.

Ouch I was wrong af
