I think my prediction was 850-890. That might be a reality. It had a huge drop yesterday and only made 3.1 m.

It did? Oh damn. In that case might not even reach 850. Needs to gross between 750 and 800 just to break even.

JL will be a suicide move then. They'll have to pull the socket on that.

I just hope they don't reboot the entire DCEU.

we don't know how much of the script was him, and how much was goyer. hell, all the batman parts that people actually liked could be terrio, seeing as how he's Affleck's mate.

I'm sure Goyer wrote the Superman stuff, as it's the same as it was in Man of Steel, just without the fluke parts that actually got Superman right that we got in MoS.

Actually they used the kitchen sink too.

true, which is why I have been looking for goyer's original script..

Relax, Fans: 'Batman V Superman' Won't Flop, Despite Rumors

lol dude can you count??? you add the production cost with the marketing cost first.. the rest should be simple for you.. also the article you post is clickbait and crap.. Naturally you and WB are trying to save face by lying to the public..

Doubt that since it's already just beneath $700mill, and it's not even been 2 weeks yet. Will defo reach $900mill IMO, in which case WB will just be happy they "made profit." (Breaks even at around $750-800mill).

Still with those kind of figures JL would be a suicide move for next year. Because what if JL makes less than that? With the same kind of budget and marketing it may struggle to break even.

what they really should do is if they don't fire Hack Snyder then they should take away a lot of his power and give it to someone who actually cares abut these characters...

No they just shouldn't make JL. There's simply no demand for it right now.

This week should be fun. Looking forward to the big shake ups.

See, brah. If the trend stays as is, it might not even break 800, or if it does just barely, 801-815

Synder delivered doodoo and the smell is starting to show. Not that $400mil of profit is lousy in of itself, but it's lousy compared to similar films

edit: If it cost around $400-450 (with marketing), why does it have to hit 750+ to break even?

Because they only get a portion of the theater gross. For simplicity's sake, it's generally assumed they get about 50%.

In terms of profit, you can't just look at the gross. There are other factors that generate profits, such as merchandise and DVD/Blue Ray sales. Mark Hughes article touches upon this.

Hmm. I thought the theaters kept around 20-25% on average of the ticket sale income. Sometimes more; sometimes less depending on the deal they make. I've even heard of instances where a powerful studio or popular movie can take 90%+ of ticket sales for short lengths of period, like opening weekend or busiest showings.

Shit though, if it is 50%, WB is ****ed on this.

There are a lot of different factors, yes. But like I said merely for simplicity it's assumed 50% is fairly accurate for total gross. At least that's what I've always seen. Perhaps the 20-25% number is for domestic? Companies earn a larger percentage from domestic gross than from over seas.

^ Like I said the estimates were approx 750-800mill to break even. But it's hard to give an exact figure because depends how much of that comes from domestic sales where they keep more of the takings.

Yeah but a big franchise should be able to make decent profit just from box office sales.

because WB are the ones putting out that info, but really $800 million is the break even mark and $ 1.5 billion is the financially successful mark...

of course it will far less once China takes all their money

😂

You turned on DC already. Judas.

BvS should hit 800 million by the weekend or close to it.

Two icons reduced to this. It's so damn enjoyable to know that I was right. This film was a trainwreck and all those fools who loved Man of Steel like Robtard know I've been right all along.

It is sad.

It's sad a movie that wasn't well received can make this much cash.

I wonder how well a good movie would have done at the boxoffice.

It hasn't even hit a profit according to the analysts. All glitz but no substance.

That is my estimate. It will pass 700 million today so by Sunday it should be close.

They'd be really happy if it went past $800mill that quickly, but given it's box office decay that seems pretty unlikely.
