Same with Ben as Batman. Most people were making jokes, when he was actually pretty good. Not nearly as bad as some were predicting.

Everyone needed a solo movie first.

Sad thing is, they made enough films.

We had a Superman and Wonder Woman origin film. IF Instead of BvS we had gotten a MOS2, and IF instead of Suicide Squad we had gotten a Ben Affleck Batman film, that would have been a far more productive use of their time and money.

Then have a JL movie focusing mainly on the Trinity. Perhaps just introducing 1 new character.

They have 3 of the most Iconic superheroes, if built up properly it would have been Huge! But WB were just really retarded trying too hard to be different to Marvel, when Every other studio is trying their best to emulate Marvel.

All of WB's troubles can be boiled down to Zack Snyder. They chose the wrong person to lead their cinematic universe, and so the whole thing collapsed.

Marvel chose Kevin Feige and has consistently prospered under his unified and cogent leadership.

No offense to Mr. Fitch, but he gives the reasons why the DCEU was so successful with their first five films: they rode of the success of Marvel and they had their whole stable of characters with which to work (two of which - Bats and Supes - are arguably the most popular superheroes ever).

I've liked what the DCEU has offered so far, but I'll admit all the problems everyone mentioned are legitimate beyond doubt. The first five movies have made more money than the five MCU movies because Marvel prepped the audience. Heck, if it wasn't for Iron Man 1 and The Dark Knight, the comic book movie sub-genre probably would still be like it was in the mid-2000's: niche titles (stuff like Sin City, Road to Perdition, and V for Vendetta) with a big name every few years (namely, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Batman).

Like he says as well, Marvel laid the groundwork by making b-listers (in terms of mainstream popularity) like Iron Man, Thor, and Cap household names. Hulk is the only MCU Avenger that was a household name before the MCU.

Why doesn't Mr. Fitch go into the fact of how Kevin Feige's approach has two Avengers movies in the top ten box office of all-time unadjusted for inflation and Justice League ain't gonna make HALF of Age of Ultron? And Age of Ultron is considered a mis-step of sorts for the MCU and is still the 7th highest grossing movie of all-time?

EDIT: Added my second paragraph.

Ya I know. Too late for Yours Truly here.

I mean, Justice League is going to have trouble cracking 700 mil at the worldwide box office possibly (I don't know what other international markets in which it has left to open). It will likely outgross it, as in Pennywise the clown Stephen King's It. Deadpool blew its doors off. It'll finally beat Logan this week, possibly the grittiest, hardest R-rated comic book film in history. Looks like Iron Man TWO might get passed by it this week, the weakest MCU film to date.

You are right roughrider, the author of the article will certainly get some clicks though.

So you didn't read it?

To be honest, if the budget had been like 250M, the current box office would be totally OK to get some revenue.

I really don't think this movie has the quality of a 300M budget, those reshoots are too costly.

I did, and his specious arguments plus what he wasn't mentioning is what makes it clickbait to me.

This movie cost like 500 million or so I read on here somewhere.

The other costs are hard to measure, but if the budget had been like 200-250M, a 600-650M with 200M+ NA box office would be safe to bring some profit.

The movie itself doesn't have better CGI than MOS really. MOS got such great CGI on Krypton and the fights were so badass.

He's a DC fanboy trolling the Marvel fanboys.

Oh Well giving someone else BvS and JL would have definitely better. Which they’ve finally realised and they’re kicking themselves for it. But regardless BvS and SS were just a bad idea.

I mean the last hour of BvS showed us the Trinity already fighting together. So we essentially got the start of the Justice League as the 2nd DCEU film. The actual JL ended up just being a sequel adding new characters who no one gives a toss about.

And SS contributed nothing. Waste of a film.

BVS was a mistake from the beginning. It's like push up Civil War right after IM1. And Civil War actually made the conflict much simpler. Tony and Steve didn't have that much problem without Zemo's messup. In BVS we actually got a Batman who wanted to kill Superman because he's too powerful. THAT is not going to go well when you need to solve their conflict in the same movie and build up the league.

WB is also the first studio to cross 2 Billion domestically. Overall, they had a great year.

Wow, WB made one good comic movie. let's give them a cookie.
