Yeah true, Given he was probably already working with Snyder on the creative side with BvS. This just makes his presence it more official.

My sources have told me that_Affleck_was incredibly unhappy about the reception of BvS. He felt humiliated after spending so much of the press tour saying how much better this film would be than Daredevil. On top of that his agent was furious when Kevin Tsujihara jumped the gun and announced him as the director of The Batman - there were still negotiations happening.

This move seems to help placate_Affleck_while also edging Zack_Snyder_out of a controlling central position in the DC Movieverse.

As much of a dc fan that I am I don't care about this movie

He'd be perfect if they ever do a Runaways movie. That would totally work with his sensibilities, and he already wrote an arc of their comic book.

As someone that didn't think that Man Of Steel or Dawn Of Justice were bad films, I still think it would be best if WB gave Snyder the boot. Even though Affleck is the executive producer here, Nolan was the executive producer for Man Of Steel. But that film didn't exactly turn out to be The Dark Knight quality.
