Imperfect Cell Theme?

👆

I'm also fond of this portion of the "Frieza Begs" theme.

Especially when it was used as the background music during Vegeta's "Saiyan Pride" scene:

Gives me chills to this day.

Oh and I'm watching BoG now. Will give my review shortly.

Tbh, if you've kept up with the DBZ Wiki and teaser-clips on youtube, you've practically seen most of this film already. That being said, there were a few parts that surprised me...

Spoiler:
*The film itself was mediocre, imo.

*Vegeta impressed the hell out of me. Aside from SSJG Goku, Vegeta did better than any other Z fighter(inc. Mystic Gohan, SSJ3 Goku, Fat Buu, and SSJ Gotenks) against Bills. Not only did Vegeta take much more of a beating before he finally went down, but after going berserk in the wake of Bills slapping Bulma(which was lulz-worthy), he actually managed to rock the hell out of Bills with several of his blows-- in fact, said punches actually drew blood from Bills. Even though Bills ultimately sustained no lasting damage from Vegeta's melee, and proceeded to own him, the fact remains that Vegeta(who is still a SSJ2, mind you) came out looking better than ANYONE aside from Goku... He hasn't shined like this in a LONG time.

*As for the other noteworthy Z fighters mentioned above: they were all one-shotted.

*The spoiler Zack posted is accurate: Bills was far and away superior to SSJG Goku-- whose purple hair looked ridiculous, btw. There was never a point during the battle in which Goku could have gained even a moment of superiority. Bills was leagues beyond him.

*At the end, Whis casually KO's Bills with a single blow-- demonstrating that his power is several orders of magnitude greater still.

*In a nutshell: Whis>>>>>>>>>>Bills>>>>>SSJG Goku>>>>>>>everyone/thing else in DBZ proper.

👆 Agree with everything.

Am glad Vegeta got this little showing, intentional or not. Kind of sucks how Gohan got shafted, but I suppose making every saiyan shine is too much for them. SMH.

Vegeta was already established as being superior to everyone not named Goku during the Baby saga...

lol @ using GT as a gauge.

Anyway, GT is non-canon to Z, thus has no bearing whatsoever on my assessment.

Bringing up canonicity? In a thread about a spin-off movie?

Only one response can suffice:

Know what you're talking about before you try to act cute. It'll save you some embarrassment.

Akira himself has recognized BoG as a canon piece of DBZ continuity. This is a sharp contrast to the non-canon idiocy of GT.

Reference?

Far as I know, movies generally aren't canon to the original series. Just link me to an appropriate source and I'll concede the point.

Directly from Toei animation:

A new story in the official history of Dragon Ball is born, neither a spin-off nor a side-story, one that can be enjoyed by both children and parents, manga fans and anime fans.

Most other DBZ movies are non-canon. BoG is simply an exception to the rule.

I'm still pretty stoked to see the movie and I'd love for it to bring about another series but gah it kills me that my favorite character won't be attaining SS3 this time around, I would have loved to hear this theme start up when everything looks bleak and everyone seems down for the count and out of the dust appears Vegeta in his new form, ahhhh would have been so pumped 😄. Eventually of course Vegeta would have to fuse with Goku both as SSJ3's but ya'know.

I'm still wishing it would have ended this way but the fact that Vegeta had some time to shine and it seems left open for a sequel or series makes me warm inside xD.

At first I decided not to watch that fight scene and just wait some more, then after seeing what others said I just went "**** it" and gave it a go.

Yeah, by DBZ standards it wasn't as over the top as I hoped, without even comparing it to Asura's Wrath. Am also not as much a fan of the amount of CG used either and prefer the traditional animation. Fight had its moments though but was kinda "meh" in the end, aside from the awesome looking sphere of energy produced by Bills. Wasn't really bothered by SSJG Goku looking a bit younger but can see why others may have been.

And I thought I was one of the only people who felt Piccolo vs 17 was one of the most entertaining fights... Learn somethin new every day I guess, and good to see people giving Bruce Faulconor credit again where credit is due.

best part of the movie, Goku doesn't even win.

This is my favorite fight personally:

Also, holy shit, Vegeta was way more powerful then anyone other then Saiyan God Goku.

I have no idea how he surpassed Mystic Gohan and Super Saiyan 3 Goku by such a degree in only his Super Saiyan state by I love it. Guess that's what nonstop training gets you, eventually it eclipses natural talent. I hope in the next movie he reaches Saiyan God levels through what he does best, hardcore training, even though it might not make the most sense. Even before the Bulma rage, he took way more punishment then anyone else and remained conscious.

There was no logic at all behind how Vegeta was able to rock Bills with his berserker melee, when vastly more powerful characters could not-- in fact, it was illogical. Vegeta is a SSJ2. A SSJ3(Goku) is canonically 4x>SSJ2. Mystic Gohan is [several times] more powerful than even SSJ3 Goku.

That amount of power cannot logically be bridged without transforming into higher levels of Super Saiyan. I believe Akira simply stepped outside the parameters of 'logic' and opted to give Vegeta his much needed time to shine, regardless of the implications. There is really no other explanation.

Either way, go Vegeta!

He was thoroughly enraged because of bills bitchslapping Bulma. It isn't out of the ordinary for characters to rock superior enemies when they are pissed. Gohan is a prime example of this. Also about the beating...Vegeta is the most pain tolerance/plain stubborn character in DBZ. He can take a beating like no one else and then some. Personally I'm glad Vegeta was given this time to shine. He has been jobbing for everyone else for too long, and I suppose it took 20 years for the writers to realize they need to throw Vegeta and his fans(who happen to be everyone that likes DBZ) a bone.

Eh, still stupid IMO. And Vegita is my favorite character.

Anyway, you use Gohan as an example for a precedent. However, Gohan's massive rage increase is because he taps into his enormous potential. Vegita or Goku, for that matter, doesn't have such potential.
