PLEASE PROTECT ME STONES
An hour into this and its more or less an improved version of the first movie, with somewhat more of an expanded view on the aliens. The CG is amazing even as I'm watching this on a low quality bit, and the battle scenes are done overall much better than the original due to the fact we were able to reverse engineer their tech. Some memorable scenes being that wall of Fire devouring the eastern sea board, Dylan and the other guy in the Alien ship, and various dogfight scenes, and the fighters flying into the bulk of the Queen Mothership/fighting her and seeing the environment-yeah the original scene where David and them flying in and blowing the ship up is nowhere near as good. The characters seem overall forgettable other than Bill Pullman/Jeff Goldblum but the movie is very much in the spirit of the prior film. The Silver sphere technosapient alien seemed like a Deus ex machina type plot device, but even then I actually enjoy the mythos for this film. Overall 6.5/7/10 not a bad film by any means but it wont be remembered as one of the better Scifi films due to weaker characters. I did appreciate expanding on the mythos of the Aliens, and I will most likely watch the sequel to this when it comes out.
Very curious to see if this gets a sequel
