Independence Day: Resurgence

So I went to see a double bill of the original and the new movie tonight. The new one doesn't have a soul compared to the old movie. Only Jeff Goldblum and Brent Spiner made it watchable. You don't care about any of the new characters especially Will Smith's characters son who is atrocious as are his 3 friends. Beyond the wisdom of "you have to get them from behind" there is no point in grumpy, old, fat, black deadpool and his comedy sidekick. You feel more sad about Dr Oken's friend dying than you do about

Spoiler:
captain Hiller's ex stripper mum or crazy old president Whitmore's sacrifice

Overall not good. 4/10.

Haha.. I'm not sure the original has a soul either.

You actually gave a **** about most of the characters though. Even ultra Jew judd Hirsch. In the new film he has a pointless story the culmination of which is being a creepy pedarast and asking a load of kids to live with him.

Hahaha... are you f#cking serious?

100%. His story in it is he's written a book called "how I saved the world". He's out on his boat when the big new alien ships comes down and one of its giant landing feet causes a big wave that washes his boat onto the land. He gets found by 4 kids driving a car trying to find their parents. He tells them the safest place is with his son. They run out of fuel and find a school bus full of kids that the driver has abandoned but still has lots of fuel. He drives them to area 51 and gets them caught up in his son's plan to trap and kill the alien Queen. After its all over with he says to the kids in a really creepy way "I think you should stay with me" and they all agree and off they go to get molested by the most Jewish guy on earth who makes woody Allen look unjewish.

Hahaha.. oh my god... I am definitely not spending money on this trash!!

Just wait til you see grumpy, fat, black deadpool.

It may not do much with the new character's but it delivers on the action.

this is better than I thought it would be.... decent action scenes

Oh jeez that was bad

man...

i did thought the aerial fight scenes were cool lol. But the dialogue was so cringe-worthy. And the dude that's supposed to be Will Smith's son....OMG! Did they just pick someone from first round audition??

^ Seemed like it. His acting in particular was terrible. Liam wasn't much better.

I'm gonna wait for Netflix on this one. Two of my friends who saw ID2 today told me that it was not very good, just CGI eye candy and mindless action.

I heard from a reviewer that he was awful..

Yeah, I'm gonna wait on this one, too. Think it'll be more enjoyable if I don't pay much.

The guy that played will smiths son, had a major baby face and a incredibly soft voice.

My girlfriend told me he reminded her of a gay colin kapernick. His character had no substance what so ever.

6/10

It should be on bigbadmonkey.com in a few days. I'll just stream it.

it got beaten by Dory at the box office.

btw, Dory took in 73,000,000 in its SECOND week! That's pretty damn impressive.

This was.....................not a good movie.

Didn't care about the new characters and the old characters were mis-used. 5/10

An hour into this and its more or less an improved version of the first movie, with somewhat more of an expanded view on the aliens. The CG is amazing even as I'm watching this on a low quality bit, and the battle scenes are done overall much better than the original due to the fact we were able to reverse engineer their tech. Some memorable scenes being that wall of Fire devouring the eastern sea board, Dylan and the other guy in the Alien ship, and various dogfight scenes, and the fighters flying into the bulk of the Queen Mothership/fighting her and seeing the environment-yeah the original scene where David and them flying in and blowing the ship up is nowhere near as good. The characters seem overall forgettable other than Bill Pullman/Jeff Goldblum but the movie is very much in the spirit of the prior film. The Silver sphere technosapient alien seemed like a Deus ex machina type plot device, but even then I actually enjoy the mythos for this film. Overall 6.5/7/10 not a bad film by any means but it wont be remembered as one of the better Scifi films due to weaker characters. I did appreciate expanding on the mythos of the Aliens, and I will most likely watch the sequel to this when it comes out.

Very curious to see if this gets a sequel
