About Thatcher: she was impotent as a political figure at the time of her death. Not sure why everyone's jimmies are rustled over her death. I do not remember this for Reagan...at least not to this extent.
Well this is a fair point, because in a political sense she died in 1990- and frankly, I would mind much less people celebrating her fall from power if they hate her so. But celebrating her death is just feeble and disturbing.

So most people just as politically ignorant as Americans? lol
haha, yes and no, depending on the party and the riding, local leaders range from trivial to modestly unimportant. The Liberals (capital "L"😉 have rules about how the party members must vote, the Conservatives (capital "C"😉 recently had a "party uprising" that was all but ignored by their leader. Sure, it is ignorance, but you could say people just know where the real power lies.
I do think celebrating someone's death can be morally acceptable.
I don't think the death of an old lady suffering from severe dementia is one of those cases perhaps.
Though, I think there are many people who'd rather die than be in that state, maybe if she was one of them, celebrating her death could be a form of showing happiness for her.

in which case I'd wish her a long life. but her death during her tenure in the exercise of power would be much more meaningful, of course.

Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him.
and so on, and so on...
really, keep at it, it's about to get all Desmond Tutu up in here
