TDK was better than IM 1 thanks to Ledger's Joker. Downey's IM/Stark pissed on Bale's Batman and every other Batman character though.

Did you like IM 3 better than TDKR?

calm the frack down or i shall ask a global up in here.. by friday there is no reason for me not to believe this will be at $1 billion plus .. its run at the box office is by no means over just because you and others are haters.. not my problem this is doing what it is doing and it won't stop just because other films are opening

Why are we haters? Just because we don't think it's going to hit 2B? Even Avengers didn't do that and it's out performing IM 3 domestically.

You brought up the domestic gross and now want to drop it since it backfired.

I was annoyed with TDKR because of the plot holes. It was the good but not the best of the 3 Batman movies. However, it was still better than IM3. IM3's cop out midway took the steam right out of it. Bane was actually a great character without the need of venom. If Mandarin was a stereotype than what is Bane than? South American, wrestler mask wearing, drug using thug is a stereo type? Nolan did Bane justice; Talia, not so much (lol).

Yeah, Talia wasn't necessary at all, but Tom Hardy was a great Bane. It seems a lot of British actors are taking over roles in general, yeah?

The reason they haven't used the Mandarin storyline straight from the comics is because it's cheesy, dated, and has a racist flavour. They made a better decision with him, going this way. Hard core comic fans may complain, but they're a small minority in the global picture of this franchise. The franchise does respect it's roots (this is Marvel producing the films, after all) but it's not going to be straight-jacketed by them.

As far as I'm aware the general audience were not exactly praising the twist either.

If they don't want to use the Mandadrin, that's fine. But building him up like that, and then making a complete joke out of him isn't going to result in most people saying "Wow that was an amazing twist."

👆

Both my brother and father, not into the character or comics the way I am, thought the twist was stupid and they are the "general audience". And this was without me stating my opinions first (plus we all watched it at different times so they didn't see my reaction in the theater).

It was just a dumb move - people can say "in the context of the story" all they want, but "in the context of the story" it was still dumb as shit.

It just goes to show how the marvel machine works when a bigger icon such as Batman can be outperformed by Ironman despite being quality films as well.

IM's also thrashing iconic marvel names like Spider-man and X-Men on the big screen.

So your point isn't that relevant. IM's simply Marvel's biggest solo movie cash cow. Batman is WB/DC's.

Showing that they are creating another mega character who may be an icon someday.

Avengers is the top dog by far.

Batman is over as well.

😂

Crappy planning in dc land IMO.

the mandarin is supposed to be iron man's archenemy.. he was reduced to a drugged bumbling idiot.. with all the tech, magic and alien stuff in the marvel universe, they could not come up with something for the mandarin? what a waste of character.. it prevented a good movie from being a great movie.. imagine if they translated the mandarin differently.. sir ben kingsley wa soooo good.. marvel deserves a facepalm for the mandarin..

other than that.. it was a good iron man movie..

I agree the Mandarin twist was silly.

Pretty much so. A lot of the good up and coming ones are outside of the US. Hardy, Hiddleston, and Hemsworth.

My friend didn't like IM3 always because he said they built up the Mandarin and was expecting that. My friend isn't a comic book fan.

They could let Ras' Al Ghul return in the end if they want to make a twist.

I don't like Bane's voice, they should have let James Earl Jones to do the voice..

I liked the first villain in the first IM movie. Whiplash sucked in the second, so I hope Mandarin is at least better than Whiplash. 🙁

You still not seen it?

I was going to on Monday, but it fell through. I'm definitely going this coming up Tuesday. Well, most likely.

IM 3 is headed for a 390-410 domestic gross, which is still pretty good. Should be around 930 WW this Sunday. Headed for 1.2 or 1.3 WW.

Apparently Marvel Studios have hinted they might make further IM movies without Downey. They obviously don't want to finish it after all the money IM3 has made.

Worldwide it should beat TDKR but domesically it's not looking that way after having a good weekend.

I wonder if he will do it if they throw more money and an even better script, assuming they're willing to through more money. I think they should.
