I would say pay him. He took $50million for IM3. I'm sure he could be convinced again for another $50mill. But then Marvel may want to prove that IM is there success and not Downey's maybe??

Wouldn't be surprised if a directors cut gets released.

if mandarin doesn't get a better treatment in the director's cut the i don't give a fu-- maybe rent it on blu-ray..

or buy..

don't judge me..

IM 3 had the monster opening weekend but it's Monday through Thursday boxoffice was kinda meh. Maybe this weekend it can get some of the wind back in the sails. As of right now during it's first week it brought in 211 million to the Dark Knight Rises 225, and that film didn't have 3D to help boost it's total.

Yup. People need to remember that TDKR didn't have that 3-D bump like current blockbusters do. Hell, if TDK opened with 3-D, it would have made 225M OW! And on top of that, it didn't even open in the countries like Avengers or IM 3. The markets are expanding. I think China refused to open TDK in their country. If it did, it could have made another 50-100M easily.

Yea, foreign markets have expanded the last couple years and where I live they charge an extra $3 or even $4 for a 3D ticket.

The director wrote the film and was the one against the Mandarin in the first place.

He shouldn't have used him then. I certainly don't want Shane Black directing any other super hero movies after doing something as stupid as that.

I think hes doing doc savage.

I agree that Shane Black shouldn't be allowed to direct anymore superhero flicks. I wonder if he has anything against the Black Panther?

Well I guess we now know what SHIELD was doing during IM 3. They were just busy doing something else, I guess there are not multi-taskers...

I don't mind about the SHIELD thing. They should be able to make solo films without worrying about where all the other heroes are. Who of course can always be occupied.

I agree about the other heroes not getting involved but SHIELD is suppose to be a worldwide eye for the planet. I'm just saying they should have atleast had a mention. Protecting the President of the United States should have been a priority.

Actually yeah. They mentioned Thor and the Avengers, had a cameo from Banner, so it really wouldn't have killed them to either mention SHIELD or even just show a few SHIELD agents.

Stark did mention collecting all known Mandarin data from CIA, FBI, and SHIELD when he was reconstructing the crime scene. I don't know if the President is SHIELD's priority though. SHIELD works for that shadow group of governments. The president might have been under protection from agencies directly under U.S. control. SHIELD is international agency I think.

Just saw it tonight. Lame. Not enough Iron Man and the Mandarin premise was a huge letdown.

Well, the film is knocking on the door of a billion dollars worldwide, after being open for three weekends. I think the complaints of the hard core fans are going to be moot.

Well like you've pointed out in the other thread about which is worse X3 or S3, they both stank and yet killed it at the box office. Likely thanks to ridiculous hype building up from their predecessors in the series.

With IM3, it was actually a decent film, had all the hype from Iron Man and The Avengers building it up, so was bound to be a box office beast.

That doesn't mean a lot of people didn't walk out disappointed. Not to the extent they did with Spider man 3, but still it was clearly there for many people- comic book fans and regular viewers.

These are monster earnings for IM3; comparable to Avengers numbers right now. I wonder if the Avengers effect continues on this fall for Thor: The Dark World and it does nearly twice the business of the previous Thor film, simply because fans are so anxious to see this building to Avengers 2. That might also mean Captain America: The Winter Soldier is an even bigger hit next spring.

I'm expecting Thor 2 to make $700mill+ WW. After all it's not only got Thor, but also Loki who everyone recognizes as the villain from Avengers.

Still not IM3 figures but you have to remember IM has always been the most popular of the movie Avengers. So the Avengers boost just did wonders for him.

But not sure how much better Cap will do tbh. His first movie was not as big as Thor or IM, and he's probably the least popular Avenger. Plus by the time his sequel comes out we already would have had 2 solo Avenger sequels with IM3 and Thor2.
