Which movie franchise is at the top of the mountain ?

I don't think so. Harry Potter toys are bought by parents, for kids. Star Wars toys are bought by adults as collectibles. There aren't now, nor do i ever think there will be Harry Potter trade shows, so it's unlikely that the toy sales for HP will ever catch up to SW.

I do think it changes the demographic and believe adults own Potter wands, collectibles, etc.

Potter already wins though.

Seeing as the books came first, that makes the movies a sub-section of the Harry Potter franchise and not the other way around, like you're trying to argue.

You seem to be hung up on this 30 year head start thing and the theme park as well. As Robtard pointed out, Disney now own SW and they are the kings of the theme park. A SW park will be opened, I guarantee you. I also think that the HP theme parks will close down, maybe not anytime soon but it just doesn't have the power to keep on going like SW. The thread title is; Which franchise is top of the mountain? It's Star Wars, Star Wars is KING of the mountain.

Are we assuming that more HP movies will be made even tho there are no plans at the moment but not allowed to assume a SW park will be made?

I'm the thread starter so I say what goes. The other site agrees but come on everyone knows movies based on books came after, kid.

Straight up Potter wins any way you look at it.

Speculation. One theme park now and the second on way for Potter. 30 years of selling merchandise is a huge head start and Potter still wins.

Title is about today not down the road, skip.

I'm just speculating and looking at the thread by today's standards not tomorrows. Right now Potter wins hands down.

The HP books are not part of the movie franchise.

Yes, they are and the other site includes them as well.

Cry.

Again, the books are not based on the movies, therefore they are not part of the movie franchise.

Can't wait for the new Star Wars trilogy to destroy everything at the box office.

again, included and other sites do so. You're not clever.

I've already explained why you're wrong, an honest person would admit their mistake and move on.

You can thank Disney for that. Just like everyone thought without George it wouldn't happen money talks. Potterverse will eventually return as well as its too successful not to with or without Rowling to the big screen.

More speculation.

But hey, let a boy dream his boy's dream. 🙂

No you didn't. Stop lying.

If you're just factoring movie ticket sales. Sure.

James Bond is another heavy hitter as well in the movie ticket department.

Yeah, forgot Bond. What about the fast and furious movies? They've made a shitload of cash.

I don't see F&F being anywhere near SW, HP and Bond.

But a 6th film coming out, obviously they're profitable, despite being turds.

I know it's speculation but as it stands today Potter wins.

That's just amazing considering the impact and the history of Star Wars.

🙂

I guess Forbes and everyone else is wrong too. It all counts but either way you look at it Potter wins.

Successful without a doubt but not in this conversation. I bet Lotr will at least be in the discussion by the end of the Hobbit.

I hate the Fast and Furious movies.
