I've never seen this retconned on panel.

Writer's comments (aka butthurt Gaiman) don't count.

Beyonder.

With spite I might add.

lol.

This is 100% because Hickman's pissing on that shitty Starbrand item and having a ball with off-panel comments 😄

It doesn't work that way. You stated she was the one and only Death.

Here is on panel evidence stating otherwise :

There are at least three faces of the Death abstract in DC : Black Racer - Death as Inevitability, Death of the Endless - Death as Compassionate Release, Nekron - Death as Cosmic Certainty AND Death as the Ultimate Foe.

Ok now your turn.

I've seen this before but that last page has something new I just spotted. Lower right hand corner has a hooded figure. Mistress Death?

This has nothing to do with that clown Hickman. Gaiman literally cried like a little girl when DC came out with Blackest Night and solidified Nekron's "Death Abstract" (among other things) status.

No, I think it was Captain Atom's wife/girlfriend. He was on some sort of vision quest to come back to life because he was killed before it was his time. So he was going through the various aspects of Death, culminating in Nekron.

The hooded figure is neither Mistress Death of his girlfriend. Its Destiny of the Endless who was helping Captain Atom along his life's path.

Books of Magic showed us that Death of the Endless is the last concept left when the universe comes to an end:

So even IF you want to try to argue that there are still multiple personifications of Death in DC, Death of the Endless is clearly the most powerful/important among them, given that she is the last thing left when creation itself comes to an end.

As for where Nekron stands in relation to Death of the Endless, I've always found this scene quite telling:

Lex: "The attack of the Black Lanterns! The dead rising! That's what this is about, isn't it? It was you behind that!"
Death of the Endless: "Oh yeah. I noticed that. It looked like they were all having a great time. You know, people do come back from the dead. It's not a big deal... I AM kind of busy.":

Lex: "The dead have come back to life! Several of them!"
Death of the Endless: "It happens! In the end, they ALL come back to ME.":

Death seemed to treat the entire Blackest Night affair like it was an insignificant event that barely warranted her notice. Funny.

Which pretty much confirms that Nekron=/=Death.

Was waiting for you to bring this 👆

It's messed up. Too many retcons and writers that can't agree.

Hold on one second!

You're telling me Death as Compassionate Release aka Death of the Endless is the one to turn out the lights of a universe whose time has come/run it's course leaving behind nothing but a black, lifeless void?

Good thing there isn't an Aspect of Death that existed in such a black lifeless void, wants to return the universe to such a state, and is known as Death as Cosmic Certainty or else you'd have a point.

Oh wait..........there is. It's called Nekron.

Yup. What business does Death as Compassionate Release have with Death as Cosmic Certainty/Ultimate Foe? Aside from the fact that both of them are Aspects of Death, none.

Exactly like it was stated in the Captain Atom issue, Death is a big concept, it has many faces. Death of the Endless is just one of those faces. I don't have to bother with the scan, you saw it already.

***** Also love the fact that she never showed her face during the entire Blackest Night event and only opened her mouth once Nekron was banished back to his kingdom.

Nope, pretty much confirms that Nekron, like Black Racer, like Death of the Endless, are different aspects of Death which is, according to Death of the Endless, a big concept.

Lol, it is confirmed on panel that Death of the Endless is the ONLY 'thing' that remains when creation ends-- not Death of the Endless + Nekron. You can't argue with on panel, nor can you place your own interpretations on clearly-stated canon material.

*sighs*

The entire event was beneath her notice, dood. She made it quite clear that Nekron's tangent "wasn't a big deal." Why? Because, "they ALL come back to her in the end."

That said, I'm sure that you'll just respond to me with [more] nonsensical BS, because it is exceedingly difficult to pry you from Nekron's bone... So don't expect me to respond again. 👆

The ONLY thing to remain is a black, lifeless void right?

Has that been retconned?

Yup, beneath her, that's why she only showed her face when it was all over?

And of course they come back to "her". She' Death as Compassionate Release, one of the many aspects of Death. Living things die and then their souls go to Nekron on their way to final judgement :

So when creation ends, Nekron exits his realm and overtakes the empty void of space where creation used to be? Where was that stated?

Because in the scan I posted, Death of the Endless very clearly says that she is the ONLY thing left.

Creation doesn't end. It loops :

Nekron is the sentient darkness and the void before life returns to the universe, then he's banished back to Purgatory.

So Nekron being a vacuum somehow equates to him being a literal void? Do you even know what a void is? Spaceless, timeless, immaterial. Two of which are criteria that Nekron does not even fulfill.

I'll lol in advance at your incoming flimsy flop of an argument.

You didn't answer my question, dear zop.

Exactly like the conditions that pre-existed the universe?
🙄

Nekron's realm exists outside the physical universe. It has nothing to do with the lifeless void that is left behind when Endless Death does her thing.

With the Light gone, Nekron reasserts himself in the physical universe.
