FPJ and Sam Witwer on Collider Jedi Council
^ FPJ says Kanan could never be a match for Maul under normal circumstances. It was a "Force Explosion."
Also that Filoni would never let Maul beat Vader, because he's very protective of Vader- hence Maul admitting his inferiority.
But FPJ's still also going on about the "Luke is Ghandi" nonsense.
Witwer says we don't know how much of "Maul is old and weak" stuff is an act and how much is legitimate. He said he would be Alec Guiness Obi-Wan's age, but it still could have just been an act in front of Ezra.
For not just fanboy purposes, I feel like Ahsoka should have stayed on Rebels longer than just a season. At the end of season 2, I think a bond was supposed to be felt between Ahsoka and Ezra (and a friendship with the other members of the Ghost crew as well) but I don't feel like that was greatly established. I mean, when Ahsoka presumably dies (from Ezra's perspective) he's distraught and breaks down sobbing, but from my point of view... Ezra doesn't really know Ahsoka that well. They've had some conversations and has seen each other here and there, but I don't think a legitimate, obvious bond was established. We know from Filoni and others that Ahsoka is meant to resemble an alternate mentor to Ezra, similar to Plo Koon's relationship with Ahsoka, but there was barely any time devoted to establishing that connection or evolving it. I think if Ahsoka was around for seasons 2 and 3 and confronted Vader at the end of the third season, there would've been more time to evolve and establish Ahsoka's relationship with the Ghost crew (particularly Ezra) and eventually make Ezra's extreme reaction make more sense, and overall make things more heartfelt for the new Rebels viewers who don't really have an emotional connection with Ahsoka herself.
Plus, how ****ing awesome would it have been to actually see Ahsoka doing so detective work when looking for these 'answers' regarding the Inquisitors and Vader? We could've had some amazingly interesting solo Ahsoka missions (or hell, bring Ezra along with some of her missions to further establish their bond they're actually supposed to have, and we all know damn well the Ahsoka episodes would've been >>>>>>>>> the trashy filler episodes we got in season two) exploring the dark side and Ahsoka's thought process regarding the matter, and seeing more throughly how she operates as Fulcrum.
I just feel like there were a lot of missed opportunities, tbh.
Meh the thing is though ultimately Rebels is not Ahsoka's story, she's become the mentor figure. And just as it was with Ben Kenobi, the mentor must die early on in the story, to allow the central characters to grow and develop without their aid.
I also have to disagree with Ahsoka's relationship with Ezra, he may not know Ezra well, but they've had a relationship for at least a few months now. Longer than Luke knew Ben, and he was pretty upset over his death (again note the parallels). I think that's enough time to form a friendship, especially for someone like Ezra, who despite having the Ghost crew remains pretty isolated as an orphan, a rebel, and a Jedi.
And let's be real, who wouldn't fall in love with Ahsoka at first sight. 🙂
Originally posted by BeniboyblingI get that, but if that's the case I'd rather Ahsoka's position as mentor be more shown and concrete than just sort of implied.

Originally posted by BeniboyblingGiven the amount of time Ahsoka and Ezra were around each other, yeah, they should be good friends (when I said 'from my point of view' in my first post I meant like if I were solely watching Rebels with no outside material/sources what my perspective would be). But, unlike Luke and Ben, we don't really see bonding moments between them, which is the problem. I'm aware that Ahsoka and Ezra had more than enough time to establish a friendship, but from what Rebels showed it gave me no reason to really think that was the case. It just would've been so much better if you saw their relationship establish and evolve over the course of the season, rather than they just have a conversation or two and that's it.
