Because it was a terrible movie. It had a nonsensical plot, bad humor at the worse places, annoying ass characters that can giver Jar-Jar a run for his money, etc...
It had a simple plot - Dark elves attempt to end universe using Aether.
I thought the humor was actually quite good. Especially the Thor-Loki interplay. Selvig was pretty great too, and had a legitimate reason to act crazy considering he was mind-controlled by Loki. That's gotta mess you up.
Annoying characters? If you're referring to the human characters I would have to disagree. And NO character, no matter how horrid, can give Jar Jar a run for his money.
The one complaint of the movie I have is with Natalie Portman. She didn't pull off the "fish out of water" acting very well.
I'm seeing this later tonight for a second viewing. I'll post a few thoughts.
Definitely this film is a HUGE upgrade over The First Avenger. The first Cap film wasn't bad it was just......forgettable. My biggest problem was the action. It was unforgivably bad. Kinda hard to get onboard with a blockbuster superhero film when the main reason you go see the film is the action sequences.
The Winter Soldier corrects ALL of that while still improving on the already good script and acting of the first film.
My only gripes are:
1.They're still not getting the whole leadership/inspiring figure/tactical genius side of Rogers across. It's imperative that you get this across because this is how you sell Captain America as not only the most important of the Avengers, but Marvel's most important character, period. Obviously, Iron Man is the best selling right now(used to be Spider-Man); but we all know even though Batman might outsell Superman, in the actual DC universe Superman is much more important.
The one scene they attempted to show the leadership aspect was
Spoiler:
HYDRA was revealed and Cap called on everyone to stand their ground against the rogue agents within S.H.I.E.D.
It came off as decent but they didn't really go any further than that in the film.
When this scene(1:32 specifically) happened at my initial viewing I lost my shit. THAT is what Captain America is. To me. He's not just an ass kicking machine(this film finally did this side justice), he's an inspirational figure and is the guy with the plan during the battle. If Batman is the person you want planning the fight BEFORE the battle then Cap is the guy you want devising strategies on the fly DURING the battle. They still have yet to show this side.
2.Dialogue. The scene in Avengers where he says "son", "ma'am", "only one God, and that's not him" are perfect. Missed those here. He's your grandmothers superhero in our present time. His dialogue should reflect that.
3.The suit; Not a big fan of any of the suits they've used thus far in all 3 films. Why not use this? Marvel was using it on promotional merchandise anyway. Looks similar to the comic books but has the modern cinema feel.
Granted, these are all minor gripes. But Captain America is my second-favorite Marvel character and their most important superhero. No need to delve into all the things it did right. Everyone else will do that. Nevertheless, I'm stoked Cap is getting justice done finally on the big screen and am ecstatic about what Marvel Studios has planned going forward. 👆

Take notes, Snyder. That's what a well-choreographed fight scene ****ing looks like.
But, yes, this movie did show how embarrassing the fight scenes were in the Nolan trilogy.

That sequel was a good one even if it had a different tone compared to the first one

Seriously?.....i can agree with you when it comes to his Avengers one it was bit too colourful
but his First Avenger & Winter Soldier one was great
as for his one for Avengers 2

Personally, I think that Cap's lack of leadership is part of why I liked him a bit better.
I don't know. I've always found Cap's status symbol and leadership role to be forced and kind of Gary Stu'ish in the comics. Something about Chris Evans quiet but persistent strength of character really appealed to me. I think that, in the cinematic universe, Tony just does a much better job at being the charismatic party-face, while Cap is the bastion of integrity who keeps the group honest, but otherwise is content to just get the job done.
I think that would be a genius plot line though. Stark, the witty charismatic, douche bag, modernist and Cap the respectful, no BS, renaissance man. They struggle for supremacy as leader of the Avengers.
I think they were already shooting for that in the Avengers film but I just felt Cap was very undersold.
THIS MOVIE KICKED ****IN ASS, The Fight Scenes were Amazing, The Story was engaging, and the Acting was good to, Sam Wilson was Funny, Brock Rumlow was a Badass and made more appearances than i thought he would, but hey he's Crossbones, GSP as Batroc was awesome loved that fight, The Winter Soldier was a FOHKING BADASS and i liked the flashback between him and Steve, i like how they hinted Dr.Strange, The Post Credit Scenes were Badass, especially the Winter Soldier one, it was a good moment, relieving and heartfelt that he is going to find out about his past, this movie was everything i wanted it to be 🙂

I thought the characterisation in the Avengers was pretty meh. Whedon did not really build on what the origin films created, he just doused it in his usual snarkiness and suspenseless action.
