Yeah but those past films are quick to set up a world where is believable you have all these strange and supernatural or science fiction characters hanging around.E.g. X-Men is a world full of mutants. So you can have random mutants popping up as cameos. LOTR takes place in Middle Earth. STAR WARS in a Galaxy far far away.
But when a superhero film takes place in modern day Earth and is going to introduce lots of super heroes/villains all with different origins and do it in 1 film, then things tend to get messy.
Spiderman 3 (even TASM2 to a degree) and heck even X-Men 3 all suffered from doing that. X-Men 3 had so many characters hanging around they had to start killing them off early in the movie. And because there was no time for a proper Phoenix and Juggernaut Origin, they were both done terribly. Both of those 2 could have been the main villain in 2 separate movies. And they could have been damn good movies too.
Honestly I want to be excited for this, but the more we hear the less excited I'm becoming.
Again, you're assuming that these cameos will be as much screen time as Spider-Man 3 or X-Men 3, etc... There just cameos and it could very well work.
