The whole appeal of Avengers and Justice League was putting together all these popular heroes. That's the excitement. Marvel made Iron Man popular, and Thor popular and Captain America popular. Hulk was already well known. Then putting all these already popular heroes together was all sorts of excitement.
Otherwise doing the team up movie first they are going to reduce the appeal of a Massive team up franchise to the level of X-Men or GOTG. Which can still be good, but won't have the Super Massive appeal of Avengers.
That's why I keep saying Batman V Superman will be DC's biggest hit. Not Justice League. Because B V S is putting 2 massive franchises together. And introducing the biggest female superhero. Whilst JL is just going to add a whole load of "others".
Also GOTG gets away with not giving Origin stories because everyone is an alien. Once you're out in space coming across different species with different abilities you just accept it all. Will be different when several random superheroes show up on Earth. Most of whom are human and whose powers are completely unrelated.
