Yup, WB blinked. The fans keep saying it's not because they're chicken but about being smart. Yes it's a smart move, but they didn't want to do that. They wanted to pick a fight to show fans that their movie was so much more epic that it would force Marvel to move their movie that they had scheduled first. WB picked the same week as that of Marvel's movie knowing full well that it would take some revenue from both movies since they share the same audiences. They did anyways. But now that Guardians of the Galaxy has been a hit, WB is shaking and chickened out. They couldn't finish the fight they started and ran. DC fanboys, no! It's a smart business decision, not chicken move! LMAO

It will make them more money though, so how is it not a smart decision?

I'm not going to say that they should have moved, but I think it's ludicrous to pretend they'd somehow be more successful if they stayed where they were.

======

Really, the whole "dc won't do anything but superman and batman" nonsense in this thread again?

It's the start of the shared universe. that's all. or do people really think we would have gotten thor and cap movies rather than the absolutely massive pile of wolverine and spider-man movies that marvel would have made if they'd had the rights?

come on, now.

Yep. Wb didn't have to wait for GOTG to know they would lose money against Cap 3. They knew perfectly well when Cap 2 came out. BVS would have defeated it anyway. Moving to March was their best option.

if that were the case then WB would have never, and I mean NEVER assigned Batman v. Superman to the date with Cap3..

How the frack do you know that Batman V. Superman would have defeated Cap 3 had had both films opened on same day?????

Everyone knows BVS would defeat Cap 3 at the box office. Cap has little chance. Lol.

Common sense. Cap isn't defeating batman at the box office. Especially since MOS did 120 M OW. CAP wasn't able to break 100.

Common sense is the right answer and you know it. I don't think I have read one post that says cap could beat bvs.

ok i will play,,,, since Cap 3 will be helped by age of ultron, common sense tells me Cap 3 will open up to at least $120 million, perhaps, $180 million and make over $1.5 billion world wide

Li ser cap 3 opening above 100. Possibly 120 like you said. However I see BVS doing much higher.

BvS should have never been in the same spot as cap in the first place, tbh.

you offered proof that captain America 3 would make 1.5 BILLION?

That would be TWICE what winter soldier made. come on.

Fanboyism aside. Some cant see how Cap 3 can beat BvS at the box office. Understandable.
I have a hard time seeing how Cap3 can beat BvS myself. Mostly because of the popularity of the 2 icons. And having them in one movie is pretty huge.

One scenario I can see Cap3 topping BvS IF they both came out the same day is, If the early reviews start coming out in websites like rottontomatoes , IMBD, etc, and BvS has like 60% scores and Cap3 is in the 90's. I can see Cap3 making like 107 million opening weekend and BvS like 100 million. Both still did monster numbers but Cap 3 won.

I just pulled that scenario out my ass to prove its not impossible for Cap 3 to beat BvS at the boxoffice.

anyhow fans of each will still see these movies regardless if they are complete trash.

Reviews aren't everything. Transformers had shit reviews, yet it was the only movie this summer that did 100M.

I can give you one scenario for Cap 3. What if Iron Man had a bunch of screen time with Cap? That is the only way I see cap winning and even that is ify.

I know reviews are not everything but they do factor into people decision on what to see. I just gave one example. I know there are tons of ways BvS crushes Cap3. But it not entirely IMPOSSIBLE to see Cap3 win even if its a 1% chance of it happening.

And your Ironman example would have been believable a couple weeks ago. After GOTG that doesnt fly anymore. Marvel took some unknown F-listers and made a good movie that is doing great so far at the box office. Made almost as much as transformers did opening weekend. A movie franchise that had 3 previous movies to build an established fanbase and was ridiculously more known than GOTG.
Winter Soldier also did great without Ironman.
