Except Del Toro isn't working on anything but making the Pacific Rim sequel, due out in early April 2017. So Justice League Dark is a project that never got beyond discussion at this point, just like Sgt. Rock, Lobo and Doom Patrol.

Nah, he said they were still working on it at the comic con. And the writer (mysterious) is still writing it. They just need WB to green light it, which may or may not be the case.

“I’m still working on it. Sandman doesn’t figure in the Dark Universe. We have Deadman, we have the Demon, we have Swamp Thing, we have Zatana, we have Constantine, but DC and Warners have been very clear that they are trying to keep those properties separate so when the time comes they can unite them, once they know they’re quantifiable. Batman, Superman, Green Lantern… everyone eventually will come together. Right now, they’re allowing us independence.”

^ Oh he said that at this year's comic-con? Cool 👆 Hope its given the Green light.

Yes, he did I wonder what he meant when he said unite them. Does this mean uniting the dark characters or both JLA and dark?

Yeah sounded like they will start off with having no clear connection to the JL world but will eventually integrate them.

Like what Marvel is doing with GOTG and Avengers.

Working on it could mean like Edgar Wright working on Ant-Man for ten years, only to walk away at the end. When Del Toro says he's actually shooting the film, then he's making it. And considering the many years he spends on projects, I don't see him shooting anything else before he has Pacific Rim 2 out in 2017.

No shit. I didn't say he was making the film as in directing currently. However, you mentioned no scripts and or directors. Del Toro is a director attached to JLD, which has a writer working on it now.

Yeah, sounds about right. Could the WB event film be them all coming together? 😛

Man, that would be awesome.

I've went on other sites where it said WB Animated Event film instead of WB Event film. It doesn't say DC Event film. If Event film means Justice League, then there will be solo films before Justice League. I've heard those event films could be Fantastic Beast or another Harry Potter film.

WB Event Film: Superman Vs Harry Potter? SvH?

Yeah, they just announced Lego movie sequels and new Harry potter stuff. Seems about right.

You are so entertaining, Golgo13. No matter what abrupt turn DC/Warners makes in their strategy, you will come on here and say it's all part of their plan. 😉

How did I say it was all their plan? Del Toro has been working on JL for several months now.

I think this is what will eventually be the DCU's downfall. We have Warner Brothers Studios announcing the DC films simultaneously with their own potential non-DC related movies. Not that big of a deal on the surface, but Kevin Feige doesn't mix with Star Wars and Lucasfilm doesn't mess with Marvel (except for Howard The Duck, but that was the 80's... the bad 80's... the drugs 80's). Anyway, if Disney has learned to let the COMIC BOOK company make its COMIC BOOK movies, Warner Brothers should do the same. If there was a DC Studios like there is a Marvel Studios, where they're their own boss, there wouldn't be this injustice that have been the DC movies up until recently. Phew, wow... anyway, it will boil down to which movie studio allows the comic book people more freedom.

So, Darth Power, I believe Warner Brothers would mix something like The Matrix with their DCU announcement.

Right there, Golgo.

They change the release date for the third time - to March 2016 from May 2016 and July 2015 before that(after they already began shooting in the fall of 2013, remember) - and you come on here and say hey, they know what they're doing, it's all about the Benjamins. Nothing to see here. Right. 😛 No matter what the hiccups have been, you say it's all part of the plan. That's why I find you amusing.

I never said they were perfect. No studio is. But moving to March is a good idea. It's a no brainer, really.

Well if it was a no brainer they would have chosen that date in the first place.

So let's just all admit WB has screwed up loads with setting dates for this film. Which means their plans for this film weren't exactly solid ones.

But at the same time let's just hope they've figured out what they're doing now. And lets hope they have a long term plan which they stick to, instead of just going back to square 1 everytime a screw up like Green Lantern happens.

Like I said before, they had to work out a lot of deals that didn't get official, which is why it was delayed. Studios move dates all the time. It doesn't effect the quality of the film at all.

That sounds like a PR person doing damage control for WB/DC

Anyhow.
There is no way WB/DC did NOT know that setting their release date on the same day as a Marvel movie (even if it was unknown at the time) was going to cause tension. They cant be that dumb. They knew exactly what they were doing and either wanted send a message or cause is childish rivalry with Marvel.
You can spin it anyway you want, but the fact remains. It was a dumb aggressive move by WB/DC that should not had happened at all. There was no point to it other than the reasons I described.
Yes moving the date a few months back is "smart" move . And they will make more money , blah blah blah , but its a move they would have NOT had to make if they were smart from the start.
