That would have been preferable.

A Multi-Verse storyline just for the sake of a crossover could be pretty confusing to mainstream audiences. So chances are that crossover would happen on Tv and not on the Big Screen (if it does happen).

I highly doubt they will crossover, but i am taking a wait and see approach

So, as time gets closer to the release date of The Hobbit, it looking less likely they will show a teaser trailer with it. Too bad. Hopefully, we can get a surprise, if they do.

I don't think the effects have even begun to be added to the movie, they literally just finished shooting.

Well, some people have been saying it could be the comic con trailer.

It's too early for a teaser trailer tbh. I mean the movie is still well over a year away.

I wouldn't mind them releasing that comic con footage

Maybe not. We got one for Star Wars and that's over a year out as well.

Star Wars is out December 2015 and we got the trailer just before December 2014.

1 Year is fine for a teaser trailer, But that's really the earliest these Huge films tend to give one. 15-16 months before the film's release. is a bit much Imho.

Yeah something like that would be fine at this stage.

they have to start getting people excited again for this.. If indeed a teaser is shown prior to The Hobbit, people will talk and talk. They will also dissect it.

That's exactly the problem. This Batman V Superman thing has been going on for so long, if you have a teaser now, it will increase excitement for it, but then it will just fade down again in a few months, just when they need to really start pumping the hype up.

I think they should leave it now for around the Avengers release time Imo. Then just keep pumping the hype.

Yeah, Darth is right. If WB releases a teaser after Hobbit, it'll only get overshadowed by Avengers/AntMan promotion.

I honestly don't see a problem. So what if it dies down? That's expected. The MAIN marketing push will be a few months before it's released, anyway.

Releasing it before the LAST Hobbit movie is a smart idea, since a slew of people will flock to see it. It will get awareness and hype going.

It won't be overshadowed by Antman and even if it gets overshadowed by Avengers, marketing campaign won't be until the last few months before it's release, so it's not like they are going to lose the audience.

On another note, when they DID release the teaser trailer at comic con, it totally overshadowed ALL the news that was released that day. Even Star Wars.

The better idea imo would be to release it after Avengers 2, when superhero hype is at an all time high. That way it can ride the wave of hype.

If they release it with Hobbit, there will surely be temporary hype. But it'll be put on the backburner by audiences while they anticipate the more immediate Avengers 2.

Also, there was barely any Star Wars at last year's comic con.

It's just my opinion (and Firefly's). I'm not some big movie marketing consultant, but from what I've seen films can be Over Marketed as much as they can be Under Marketed.

Best way IMO is for hype to go up and up until the movie comes out. Not to go up and down and up and down.

It's all going to be about Avengers for the next few months. Like Firefly said they should start their Marketing around the Avengers release time. And they should give us the Major marketing(the marketing I'll be trying to avoid because I don't like to many spoilers) when Star Wars comes out- 3 months before BvS.

Couldn't have said it better myself

Well, whatever WB does, they are the king of marketing, IMO. If they feel the need to do it now, then it's for a good reason. If they wait around until Avengers, then that's fine.

I don't care either way. I'll still be stoked whether a teaser trailer comes out or not. And the said can be said about anyone else, TBH.

Are they? Because they did a terrible job recently with Edge of Tomorrow.

And I'm pretty sure they went wrong somewhere with Watchmen as well.

Because both were quality films (one with a huge star) but neither brought in big box office. So hopefully they have more competent people working on BvS's marketing plan.

So far with superhero movies Marvel studios is the one that stands out to me as having by far the best (and most cost efficient) marketing.

Every company has their blunders, but yeah I'd say Disney is the best at marketing.

I've been hearing over and over that they are. They used to hold many records, so it's a toss up.

Like ares said, every studio has their flops. Look at Lone Ranger, John Carter, and Prince of Persia. All bombed.

Watchmen was unfortunate, but a niche. It didn't really have blockbuster written all over it like the above.

Let's not forget that WB didn't have ANY super hero movies that came out this year and still on pace to make more money than Disney. They still have the Hobbit that's coming out and will probably make a billion.

They hold the market lead once that comes out.

Disney still has into the Woods, though.
