Just because the film was bad, doesn't mean it can't be part of the MOS Universe. All it means is that the events of that movie are unlikely to be referenced. But I don't see them doing the GL origin story on the big screen again any time soon, so the origin story we have will have to serve.

The Incredible Hulk wasn't a huge hit, but they still kept it in the same Universe, even changing the actor didn't change that.

It wasn't a hit, but it was still a good film. I'd still prefer they reboot Green Lantern with a film similar to Green Lantern: First Flight.

Hey I would love that too! Problem is at this point your general audience is not going to give it a chance.

And in terms of TIH, I enjoyed it too, but a lot of people didn't. And not many people gave it a chance (probably due to Ang Lee's Hulk proceeding it).

According to Amy Adams Gal is gonna be "yoked" for the film.

What do you base your facts on that alot of people did not like the last hulk movie? it has an rotten tomatoes audience rating of 72. that great.

Man of Steel had Superman 3, Superman 4, and Superman Returns before it. Granted, Superman is more popular, but those movies were enough to kill Superman the same way Schumacher did to Batman. A Green Lantern reboot has to be over the top and high quality to make a decent profit the same way Man of Steel and Batman Begins were, respectively.

Oh great.

She already lacks curves. Now's she's going to have muscles on top of that curveless frame?

On a rating from 1 to 10, I wonder how much they'll make Superman job to Batman. 🙁

That's all I care about at this point, how badly that will happen.

I didn't like Man of Steel overall, and from every rumor we've had so far, this movie sounds like it will be ass, like they are trying to do too much at once.

Difference being Superman and Batman are the biggest names in comic book and comic book movie history. People will always give those 2 a chance.

But your general audience has no reason yet to give GL another chance.

Batman is supposed to be a lot more experienced than Superman, so it's understandable that he'll be better at tactics. Works in the context of the film.

Yeah I don't know what the big worry is. It will obviously be weakness exploitation on a Superman unwilling to go for the kill.

I think I'll go with what the host at AMC said. It will probably be a stalemate. I HIGHLY doubt they will make Superman a jobber in one of the most anticipated movies in history. Plus Snyder is a big fan. This isn't the comics, folks.

I have no problem with Batman being a more season veteran for the context of the film. But if Superman is portrayed in a dumb manner or incompetent purely for the sake of making Batman look better, that would be bad. Contrary to what a lot of writers and fans think, you can have Superman look awesome and Batman look awesome too without having to job out the other.

Plus, there's the fact that this movie will be taking some elements from The Dark Knight Returns, which in turn had one of the most skewed and unflattering portrayals of Superman ever.

I worry because I recall some shit about Snyder also consulting Frank Miller on things.

**** that guy.

That, too.

Miller doesn't like Superman (which is one thing), but doesn't even understand the character (which is another thing entirely). I mean, Superman being a government stooge/puppet? C'mon, now.

We dont know what elements snyder will take. Plus i doubt they will make superman look stupid.

Probably this. Superman in THIS universe is still a rookie.

Yeah, but Marvel made TIH to erase the memory of 2003's Hulk. While not an overwhelming hit, it got somewhat better reviewed and established a better backstory that could be part of a shared universe. So mission accomplished, for the most part.

I think they would prefer Green Lantern got erased from continuity and started over with something new. It would be for the best, since they royally screwed up Parallax (lamest villain since Julian McMahon's Doctor Doom), and they need to redefine the capabilities of the power ring. Stick with objects of solid light, not creating whole mechanisms like Gatling guns, Anti-aircraft platforms or creating virtual Suns with gravitational fields (ridiculous), which got the ring compared to the powers of Jim Carrey's The Mask.

DC & Warners right now look like they are going to keep making group team-up films, rather than a series of solo films climaxing into the biggest team up of all (the Avengers model.) Still...
Anyone else think they are mulling the ideas of switching GLs, in the name of adding more racial diversity to the team?

I can see Warner Bros. offering Will Smith a blank cheque to play John Stewart... 😖hifty:

THAT would guarantee better reception and box office.
