WB to announce Superman/Batman & JLA movies

I really wouldn't use F&F as a gauge of her acting ability. I like those films too, but they didn't exactly give her much chance to show off any real range.

She might be a good Diana, that's true, but it's anything but a foregone conclusion at this point.

And she really needs to bulk up.

So, that rumor about Amazons being "ancient Kryptonians" who settled on Earth thousands of years ago has got to be one of the single most disappointing things I've heard of, true or not.

Yeah, I wouldn't be happier with it either. Talk about shitting all over the lore...

I really truly and honestly do not understand why WB seems to think the idea behind Wonder Woman is so difficult to translate onto film or that the general audience can't get behind it.

It's like, every time Diana gets close to getting a movie or series, someone feels the need to just shit on everything that makes her Wonder Woman and then justify it poorly.

I'm sure it's a mix of sexism and a few other things. It's a fact by this point that Greek Mythology movies make money. Percy Jackson and the Titan movies have shown that.

WB have a real, solid opportunity to crack a market here, and get more female viewers interested in superhero movies (though obviously there are plenty already). All they would need to do, realistically, is do something akin to the animated movie. That thing was awesome.

I would expect that, if Diana is received well by the next movie, that there'll be a solo movie to follow.

Expect me to swear and curse like a mother****er though, if they pair up her and Batman. **** that shit.

Because generally speaking female leads don't make money. It's all about the benjamins!

Sad truth.

Yeah. I mean, magic/fantasy movies in general rake in money (Harry Potter, LOTR, Percy Jackson, Wrath/Clash of the Titans, etc). And while I have a feeling Hercules 3D is gonna tank, it's still going to attract people who are into that sort of thing. A superhero movie that has those aspects just seems so...obvious?

I've read online that some writers/execs feel that Wonder Woman wouldn't appeal to the male audience due to the fact that she's "emasculating". I'd like to imagine most of that is utter crap, but you never know what kind of discussions go on in board meetings and whatnot. I don't know of any person, male or female, that doesn't at least like some concepts of Wonder Woman.

Man, as much as I don't like Diana with Superman, I dislike the idea with her and Batman even more.

Hunger Games just shit all over that line of logic.

Anyone who thinks Wonder Woman is emasculating, really doesn't get the point of the character.

But yeah, badass females make money. I really don't see why they're so blatantly unwilling to give it a go.

Then again, they might not have received a decent script yet, so could be that.

I agree.

Pretty much every girl I talked to that likes comic books/superheroes even on a rather casual basis (watched movies, that's about it) like the idea of Wonder Woman. And most dudes will like her on the basis that she's hot and beats the shit out of monsters and stuff at the very least.

That's a good point. I really want to like Man of Steel 2, and am even willing to overlook the issues I had with the first one, but they're not making it easy for me. The only positive thing for me so far is Affleck being cast, who I really think is going to knock it out of the park if his recent work is any indicator.

I'm optimistic about Affleck, tbh.

I think that if they follow the "Superman feels bad and is trying to make up for the damage caused, meets Batman, they disagree and then become friends to fight Luthor" theme, and they stick to it, that the movie will be great.

Or hell, even throw in elements of Trinity (the Wagner book) for the Wonder Woman stuff.

I honestly wouldn't have picked Godot (sp?) for the role, but I'll give anyone a shot; I still remember thinking RDJ would be a great Iron Man when so many people thought he'd suck.

Yeah but RDJ was always a great actor. As far as I know Gal Gadot is just a pretty face trying some acting roles.

I don't know, makes no sense to me.

And yeah I've also been reading the rumors of WW being a Kryptonian descendant. F*** that shit. If they want to do that, then just bring in Supergirl instead, and leave WW out of this one.

None of this is making any sense to me.

LOL! I said, "GENERALLY". Which is true.

As for MOS 2, nobody knows how it's going to turn out or be about. They haven't even cast the villain or villains. They just hired an Oscar winning screen writer and director.

If I had to place my money, I say it's going to rock. And hopefully the ROCK will also be in it. 😉

Stop listening to internet rumors. Most of the time they aren't real. Go back to the first page of MOS 2 discussion and you'll see tons of rumors that turned out to be false. And you guys keep on having a cow about nothing.

BTW, here was the guy who speculated on it.

Jett Batmanonfilm ‏@BATMANONFILM1h

For the record, take on #WonderWoman's origin was pure SPECULATION -- as I said as much in the mailbag. Anyone saying otherwise is wrong.

Take a deep breath, guys.

And his FINAL word.

FYI! *Sigh*

Apparently, several outlets picked up on what I wrote in the mailbag below – especially my take on how Amazons might be explained in BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN – and claimed that I was reporting it as fact and/or that it was a “rumor” I had heard.

They. Are. All. WRONG.

The mailbag is between me the fans of BOF with me answering questions with a mix of industry scuttlebutt, inside info, and MY OPINION! Nothing more and I’ve been doing this sort of mailbag for years. I get that people are starved for BvS information, but a lot of sites are taking what I wrote in the mailbag and clearly twisting my words! Either that, or they didn't read the thing and are simply responding to another outlet's incorrect report! Thanks to the outlets who ran the story and CLEARLY STATED that I CLEARLY STATED it was all speculation and my opinion.

So there…just setting the damn record straight. This isn't a rumor, nor is it inside info. It's nothing more than me guessing how Goyer and Snyder might characterize Wonder Woman and the origin of the Amazons. Carry on...

LOL! Again, flipping out for nothing.

The problem isn't that it's fiction. The problem is that it's plausible.

We're talking about hypotheticals here anyway; I don't think anyone is under any illusions.

That's the thing: We don't know.

Snyder sat down with this woman and obviously picked her for a reason, so he knows something we don't.

It could be or it could be false. Seeing as Snyder has acknowledged WW as an Amazonian a while back. If they do do it, I'll eat my hat. 😛

Whoever this guy is, he tweeted this.

Devin Faraci ‏@devincf 49s

I have multiple sources telling me the Wonder Woman as Kryptonian stuff is bullshit.

It's one of the most important, if not THE most important thing about the shared universe they're setting up. This movie will, in part, define how magic functions in the movie DCU, and if they don't get it right, it could harm several other movies badly.

Marvel did a great job with Thor I felt, so I know it's possible.
