^ I'm not one of those to put it on par with Avengers. From the MCU I still put both IM1 and Avengers above CA2. CA2 does get 3rd spot for me though. But as great as CA2 was, I wouldn't call it "Epic"... Avengers and IM1 were Epic Imho.
Spoiler:I'd say it's without a doubt more epic than Iron Man 1. Hydra >>> Obadiah Stane. Avengers you have a valid argument for but not IM1.
Cap and crew saving the lives of millions upon millions of people, as well as thwarting Hydra's global plans for world domination qualifies as epic. Also, the fights with Winter Soldier were amazing...

With the word "Epic" I didn't mean who was facing the greater threat in the movie. I meant in terms of being a film of such great quality that it would be remembered for generations. Things like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings were Epic for instance.
So as great and entertaining as Cap2 was. I'm not sure it gets into the Epic, One of the greatest movies of all time, kind of category.
Agree about the action sequences though. They were incredible.
You have to remember IM was so good it completely turned Downyes career around from in the dumps to mega super star. IM1 plus Avengers secured IM as the most profitable solo superhero on the big screen.
Now dont get me wrong, I think CA2 Frigging Rocked. But I still dont think it will be as Big or Epic in its influence as IM1 and Avengers were. But thats just my thoughts on the subject.

It didnt quite do the same thing for marvel, but Winter soldier raised the bar for the comic films to come after it. And it was a better film IMO.
Originally posted by DARTH POWERSee, the problem is, Iron Man 1 and Dark Knight both raised the bar in terms of super hero movies. Super hero movies REALLY SUCKED until IM1 came out. And Then TDK followed and was every bit as strong if not stronger.

The thing is, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is being released in a time where good super hero movies are the norm, not the exception. So of course IM1 seems like it's more epic in THAT regard, but Winter Soldier is still a better movie imo.

Yeah that could be true.

That was a lifetime ago now 😛

When Iron Man came out it was a breath of fresh air. Not only was it visually amazing but it was just a really good film. Dark Knight followed suit and people started saying "Comic book movies can actually be GREAT MOVIES". But yah, there were some good movies before that they were just the exception.
