Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

How did Miller screw up Superman if you don't mind me asking? All I know about his craziness is from Linkara's reviews of his recent Batman works. Although now that I think about it his Superman (and every other DC hero) in those works was awful too.

He turned Superman into a fascist goverment lapdog who couldn't think for himself and went out to kill his friend because the president odered him to.

But what would you prefer, they have a spelling contest? Audiences will expect some kind of fight for entertainment. But Zach's made it clear when it comes down to it there obviously is no contest at all.

lol Considering Superman from MoS, it better be a no contest. Though I wouldn't be surprised if this is how they introduced Kryptonite. Due to the story of MoS I wouldn't be surprised if they work that into the "creation" of kryptonite. Nobody will make the connection to it not even Superman....UNTIL Batman strolls on in.

I'd like to see Batman consider Superman a threat same way Lex Luthor does. I want their first encounter to be a fight and I want it to show how much Batman prepared for it. It should go good for Batman in the beginning, but then I'd like see Batman's prep show itself as the battle continues to escalate and I'd like him to reconsider his actions and realize there is really no way of putting Superman down, but that it is okay because he sees the good in Superman. Either by saving Batman from himself, or saving some lives by risking himself to exposure of kryptonite(if it must be brought)

Perhaps I sound biased, but I was trying to make both look good.

Ugh, no. Hell, the battle should be more of a scuffle than a full blow fight. Let them team up instead.

they will team up, but just after they fight

👆

Exactly.

Superman is a hero of the people not of the American government.

I'm fine with him giving Batman tips, but Miller has not been relevant for more than a decade now. Personally I'd prefer Loeb's advice.

TBH, Loeb's most recent comics are quite bad as well.

True, but Miller's influence can be seen felt in Batman Begins already. Lets try someone new.

Who would you suggest?

Interesting. Gives me much more respect to Nolan and crew.

I just think it would be cool to have Superman throw Batman through a wall or something. I mean jeez imagine Batman's reaction to that Lol.

When that happens have Batman remote control the Batmobile or Batwing to shoot a few missiles at Supes or something like that. But have Kryptonite there as the wildcard for Batman to use when he realizes nothing else works. And like you said show Batman doing days of Prep and research to discover Kryptonite.

Something like that will show how invincible Superman is, whilst also showing that Batman is more than just a guy in a suit. And will be entertaining to watch.

But having no kind of fight at all in the fear of it insulting Superman won't really be that entertaining for anyone.

A fight will happen yo. Too much hype and history involved with these characters for it not to happen.

I would like to something very much the same....

Batman with the mind set "he's so powerful we need to keep him in check" so he preps for him. So now he has a well thought out strategy for Superman. Bats is doing good but barely hanging in then he starts getting beaten back a little and he pops out the Kryptonite. I don't want it to do the whole "Helpless Puppy" thing it did in Smallville. I want it to clearly be hurting him and making him weaker BUT he still has options in how to deal with it.....like super breath blowing it away or something. Anyways I want bats to pull it out and look like he has the advantage but sups knocks it away somehow. Batman is kind of fatigued and appears hurt but decides he want to keep going. Then enters the bad guy. let them clearly still distrust each other but fight along side each other. Have Superman save the still fighting fatigued batman but in doing so he puts himself in the path of the Kryptonite he knocked away earlier. Sups is getting weaker and is trying to save batman while fighting off an attack. Now hes to distracted and weak so he cant get rid of the k-nite. Batman calls in an extraction taking sups with him to repay superman for saving him. Or at least something like that.

Am I the only one who didn'y like The Dark Knight Returns? I'm not sure if it was Frank Miller. Probably moreso the art direction. Thought it was horrible for the most part. Thought the movie was dope so it was probably the art.

Having Miller as a consultant makes me frighteningly unsure now.

It is a pretty divisive comic. Also I find the art to be phenomenal. I love Miller's stylized style and, even more so, the amazing use of color.

That actor in the fan poster is very badass, but too old IMO

That actor is Josh Brolin.

I dunno. Brolin looks pretty good there, I think, as an older Batman.

But yeah, there needs to be a fight (especially if "vs" is in the title), and it has to be done in a way that highlights the strength of both combatants: Batman's superhero experience and prep, and Superman's good-heart / noob-superness.

Otherwise, the big screen is gonna positively radiate CIS / PIS.

You're missing the bigger picture that Miller hinted at in TDKR. The world turned against its heroes. Green Lantern gave up guarding Earth, Wonder Woman turned her back on mankind in disgust.
And yeah Supes became the lapdog instead of abandoning Earth.
It was his decision.

Miller can't write Superman properly; he never has been able to either.

Loeb, even with his faults, has never written a bad Superman to my recollection, and he has written an absolute mountain of Superman stuff.
