Well it's got over 50% on RT. So technically more Reviewers gave it a positive review than a negative one.

Also I tend to ignore critics man. They gave Superman Returns good reviews!

Only if fans and critics alike give a movie bad reviews do I take the reviews seriously. Like with the new Fantastic Four, which I didn't bother watching. Now that shows all the signs of an Awful movie which everyone hates. MOS- Not so much. That's more of a "Hate it or Love it" kind of movie.

👆 It's rated roughly around most Marvel movies and better than some. I prefer MOS to most MCCU films, anyway. Only ones that are better are Avengers 1, GOTG, and maybe WS.

As for the religious tones, this guy seemed to go very much into detail of why he loved it, because of it.

Well if you like MOS that's fine.

Wasn't a perfect movie. And not even close to being one of the best superhero movies ever made. But was entertaining nonetheless.

Pretty much this.

Hoping BvS gives us a Avengers fun and quality level. Not hoping for IM1, CA:TWS or GoTG level, seems too much of a stretch, maybe in future films.

Fun? I doubt we'll see that until Superman is more established and less hated.

Hated as a character or the way he was portrayed in MOS?

Superman will never lose the hate he gets as a character because people who hate him either 1) don't read the comics and have a weird idea of him, or 2) just don't go for the type of character he is (Leonardo, Cyclops, Captain America).

In universe, Superman only starts to come in to himself once he starts to really win people over and isn't treated as the enemy. BvS shows elements of that, but it's a rocky road, so it might not be until Justice League that we start to see him BE Superman in the most common sense.

Maybe your use of the word "hate" is a bit extreme. I've heard of a lot of people who say they can't relate, or don't care much for the character because he either lacks charisma, is too clean cut or simply too powerful that no one cares what happens to him.

People just want to see him flex his muscles not make God like speeches.

OT:FINALLY!

That first paragraph of yours really does apply to my first point, though. The character has plenty of depth, has relatable issues (at least imo, and I'm no kryptonian), and the whole "too powerful" thing, hasn't been relevant since the 80s.

Well to be honest I probably stopped reading Superman comics after his death all those years ago. Then I saw his cameo in Hitman where he bitches & moans about his life & Tommy sums it up as being a douchebag.
Superman's bitterness & angst in Kingdom Come & his spoilt brattish behaviour towards humanity in general probably is the truest to character IMO.

You don't think he had reason to be bitter in KC, even though he did turn it around later on?

Truest to what version of the character?

Isn't that the precise point?
Depending on what writer or what actor plays him determines what version you like the best?

In KC the death of one person made him turn his back on the entire human race.
He still watched & kept up to date with what was happening in the outside world forcing WW to call him a selfish brat before he snapped out of his self imposed exile.

Superman's versions in the comics last for years though. We're talking decades where he follows at least a basic set of characteristics. He only started becoming more complex in the 80s, and that peaked in the late 90s/early 00s, and they've tried to maintain it to this day.

KC Superman turned his back because of more than the death of one person. He did so because he didn't see a place for him in the world anymore, and that he wasn't needed. When he realised he was needed again, he put the cape back on. And even if you disagree, which is fine, KC isn't representative of Superman as a whole, especially when there are more prominent, longer lasting versions of said character.

So what's a good comic book based storyline to follow?

If you're talking about the Superman version I personally prefer, I'd recommend stuff like Our Worlds At War, Superman Birthright, Superman: Up, Up and Away, and Action Comics at the start of the DC reboot to the new 52 stuff.

Sadly right now, Superman isn't a very good book, nor is he being treated particularly well this year.

Cheers. I'll try & check out those titles.

But yeah, like I said, it will always be subjective to whoever writes Superman.

Special effects are now complete. Interesting that the guy said Doomsday isn't in the movie. We'll see if he's lying when the film comes out.

I would be perfectly fine if Superman turned out to be the main villain. Would make the movie more interesting.

Within reason, sure. There are always going to be "rules" for writing him.
