The only thing that matters is that most of the GA likes this, which they did for MOS. As I posted the article above, there is a misconception that most people hated MOS, but in fact most people liked it as it had strong sales in the DVD/blue ray sales and good box office for a reboot.

I never denied the GA generally liked MOS. I liked it myself. Although considering it had such a huge OW it's end total wasn't exactly out of this world.

The GA seems to have responded much more to films like Winter Soldier and GOTG.

The dark atmosphere is going to be a huge complaint for many IMO.

Considering the competition MOS faced in the following weeks and the fact that it's the start of DC's cinematic universe, MOS did quite well. Winter Soldier and GOTG had the luxury of having their universe built up already. Let's see if WB will have a similar success story, because their is a lot of hype surrounding both BVS and Suicide squad.

I like my films dark dammit lol.

TDK being dark didn't stop it from having the highest admissions record for a comic book movie. 😉

^ Yeah seems like it. People who liked MOS will love this. People who hated MOS will carry on complaining with this.

Just think this needed better than "mixed" reception.

Which is what I've always been saying. Those like Robtard who really enjoyed man of steel should breathe a sigh of relief. I always found that film to be devoid of emotion and repetitive nonsense. Snyder sucks.

Different times.

It wasn't a very good comic book movie either, imo... shrug

the thing is though Superman isn;t a dark character which hurt Man of Steel, IMO.. it is clearly understandable why Batman is and both Burton and Nolan understood that..... Now if they continue going down this path of having their characters dark and it certainly might not work

funny statement lol

I do agree Superman shouldn't be a dark character either. That's why it works with Batman but with Superman it seems forced and out of place. But with Snyder at the helm I think he'd have ****ed it up no matter the script.

Superman has been plenty gritty before. Should they have done it with a movie? No, they shouldn't have, at least not as the primary tone of it. He's not Batman, but he's had gritty stories before.

It's true though. To me at least. The Nolan trilogy (yes, all three of them) are enjoyable movies. They're well made (even if DKR is obviously the weakest on a technical level), but if you ask me if they're good Batman movies? I'd have to say no. I think they're good movies that happen to feature Batman, but that's as far as I would go, unpopular opinion or not.

Marketing is in full effect now. Some of these are at the Grove in LA.

You shouldn't complain though given how those films not only increased Batman's popularity but also pumped up the desire for comic book movies in general. I think 2008 saw a huge boost in the desire for comic book movies with Iron Man and The Dark Knight.

So I think Nolan did a really good job personally. Would I want him making Justice League or The Flash? No. But personally I also think JL needs a better "quality" director than Snyder.

Who would you choose as the director?

Anyone else. Snyder would have been fine for the MOS sequel. But I Have no idea why they've given him ALL the most important films forming the DCEU.

Do you feel in that respect that WB should be like Marvel and have different directors on their films?

^ Yeah of course they should. I mean it's not like Snyder absolutely nailed it with MOS, and yet they're giving him not only BvS but JL parts 1&2? That's insane!

Right now best thing WB/DC have going Imo is Suicide Squad. And that's because it's David Ayer directing so will be a breath of fresh air from all the Snyder, more Snyder and even more Snyder.
