If they want to reach it's full potential, sure.

I posted the link above, but here it is again.

In the video he points out both male AND female viewership went up by 3%, therefore it would seem the increase was across the board (as Pr said, nothing unexpected as it nears the release), but he then attributes the increase in female views to Wonder Woman? Where is the evidence (not opinion) to back this up?

To his credit, he says he "suspects" it was because of Wonder Woman (although still dubious). You actually took the leap to assert it was in fact because of her.

We'll see once the BO reports come in. From a business standpoint, it's a no brainer to show WW, IMO.

I'm not sure exactly what the BO reports will tell you? I'm assuming you're still talking about inclusion of WW in the trailer and BO performance. BO performance (total, not opening) is not based on trailer alone. Good reviews, and word of mouth plays an even bigger role, IMO.

I would think it's obvious that most of the female increase is because of WW. WB has been marketing her like crazy for the last few weeks. Whenever there is a poster of Batman/Superman, there is WW. Whenever they show the Batman/Superman logo, they show WW, etc...

It's not obvious to me at all. To hold this view also shows you have some underlying perceptions about women that we disagree on.

What we can agree on, is that WB has *very likely* marketed the movie *believing* that including WW will improve viewership and gain favor with *certain* groups (IMO not women in general). However, what we don't agree on, is that this is actually true.

That said, I'm not going to attack your view on it. I'm just saying, there is nothing in the statistics that can be used as evidence of your theory even if I can see it being a popular and readily accepted one. Having said that, it is in fact very difficult to show proof of anything from the simple statistics that they have. So not having the proof doesn't mean you are wrong. But I do think you are wrong.

While it is possible that it was due to WW and WW alone, I think it is a bit of a leap in logic. Movies naturally receive a boost as they get closer to release date. It's what happens when people look at the calendar and think "aww shit, I wanted to see that".

Just imo though.

Agree to disagree, then. I know for the Supergirl TV show, about half of it's audience is female. I think having a strong female, super hero does attract the female demography.

You're right box office reports won't tell us if WOnde Woman helped (although I would think that was almost as obvious as including Superman to boost the box office)..

However a good opening will go a long long way to helping this achieve a good/great total box office.

Look at SW7 for instance, with a world wide opening of $500mill+ it was going to pass a Billion total pretty easily.

However I agree it's always a better sign from audiences if it gets to that stage via WOM than getting there via hype.

Think that's down to Callista Flockhart as well Imo

I know ONE guy at my work who watched SW 7 because it had a lead female and African american. Not saying the GA watched the movie because of that, but it helps advertising that, so BO can reach it's full potential.

That was actually the most original and refreshing part of SW7. Also those characters were executed exceptionally well.

But Golgo didn't you used to justify not having a WW solo film because female lead films don't make money??

I think it depends on what property. I think compared to the average male lead, the female leads don't make as much.

You make an interesting point.

But by the same token, Star Wars VII and Mad Max Fury Road, two big hits with female leads which were heavily SJW/feminist-approved had a male dominated audience.

I'm not sure what this means. Just pointing it out.

Also, remember that this is WW's FIRST on screen debut. I think it's smart showing her in the trailers to get people in the seats, rather than viewers who will wait to watch it on DVD.

I honestly think the entire marketing campaign for BvS should have been like SW7. Just teasing stuff. BvS is one of the few other movies that would work for. Where less is better.

Anyway will see how this does in 2 weeks.

Hmmm, the last trailer was somewhat of a tease. But according to MANY people who saw the movie, there are quite a few things that are not even hinted at in the trailers, which I hope is true.

IMO anyone who is excited to see Wonder Woman, would be someone who is already excited to see Batman V Superman.

It's like winning a billion dollars, and a nice mansion as well. The mansion is good too I guess.

Well we know Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg will appear.

Not sure it works like that tbh.

Some fans are more excited to see Batman, and will be there OW and give repeat viewings due to him. Others will feel that way about Superman and others about Wonder Woman.

Although with WW it will also be a case of curiosity and homage from a lot of different people.. seeing the character for the first time in live action since the Linda Carter days.

Terrio says the Tone for JL will be a lot lighter than BvS which he considers the Empire or Two Towers of the DCEU:

Wonder how much WB will be leaning over his shoulder to meddle.

It isn't that black and white across the board.
