Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

TBF, Fox are very well known for being greedy phucks, so I don't see an alliance with Disney happening any time soon. That being stated, even without X-Men or Spiderman, Marvel's still got a huge ass roster to choose from, and if GOTG is a success, it'll be the gateway to introducing virtually any B-List superhero they choose. DC is having trouble re-introducing Superman, their most famous superhero. Every attempt to introduce Wonder Woman has been panned, and Martian Manhunter hasn't seen the light of day since the DCAU. Batman is the only DC big-name to have any undisputed cinematic success, and even that is being questioned with the casting change (TBF, I'm rooting for Affleck). GL was an utter failure, and while Arrow, and by extension The Flash are doing good on the small-screen, unless there is a direct crossover (like Marvel is wisely doing with AoS, although I'll admit it's not as good as Arrow), I don't see how it will help DC in the cinematic sense. As stated before, the only way DC has any chance is if the S/B film is a masterpiece, like, serious Oscar-level.

Man of Steel is them having trouble?

It's just so hilarious to me that DC is losing this battle, when they have the far more famous characters.

It's easy to win a battle when you have a massive headstart.

WB were supposed to be on this 5-10 years ago.

Their plan was to do a Batman/Superman movie alongside the Bale and Routh solo films, but using a different Superman and different Batman. Basically so they could run off the success of those films but without being restricted to their continuity. Then that would lead to a JL film.

Problem was Superman Returns was a huge box office (and fan rated) disappointment(I still blame f***ing Singer for that). So that pushed them backwards. They had plans for a Wonder Woman film directed and scripted by Joss Whedon, but apparently the script was bad (hard to believe but that's the official story).

Then they tried expanding the DC cinematic universe again with Green Lantern, which they actually went ahead with. But we know how that ended up.

And now there's been another delay for a year with Batman vs Superman, with no other solo movies planned in between (as far as we know).

So they have been trying, but they've had too many set backs. Probably because WB doesn't give DC the same autonomy that Disney gives Marvel. But hopefully in a couple of years and with help from great directors like Synder and Affleck, they'll be back in the game.

But for now, there's obviously no competition between WB/DC and Marvel on the big screen.

As long as Ben Affleck is Batman and Cavil wrecks him we will be ok😂

Oh quit making excuses. Marvel had a plan whereas dc did not. Simple. Marvel is assraping them. Dc blinked and backed down while changing their release date.

Marvel is establishing more characters whereas dc still goes back to their ball hogs.

Marvel>>>dc. Keep making excuses. I'll keep smiling.

And the bandwagon boy returns. Going out of his way to hate on DC unnecessarily in a discussion that had nothing to do with Marvel.

However I am concerned about how DC is handling their characters in cinema. Especially with the delay I expect MoS2 to be the best thing evar when it comes out: no I don't think I'm setting my standards to high.

The comparisons are being brought up. Dc changed the release date meaning they buckled first.

One thing you are right about is this can't even be considered a competition at this point due to marvel being on another level.

I don't really watch the tv shows. I like movies far more than tv shows tbh.

Clearly wasn't the success they wanted it to be critically. It was clearly trying to be the next TDK (at least the next Avengers). To say it failed at that task would be an understatement. It's not just about the money.

Batman Begins, fist film of the DCCU came out in 2005. Dark Knight came out in 2008, same time as IM, first film of the MCU, came out. Superman Returns ('06) sucked, as did Green Lantern. They've had plenty of time.

Who knows things might change with that planned Agent Carter tv show

as for Agents of Shield (I haven't watched for a while since it hasn't been airing here for a while) but give it time to develop might actually hit its stride with Season 2.

actually you are wrong.. Man of Steel was very very successful.. both in the fans eyes and the studios eyes.. WB wasn't worried about critics had to say.. they saw the box office receipts and were thrilled.. WB knew that Man of Steel was going to be the Superman version of Batman Begins.. remember Batman Begins made enough money to greenlight The Dark Knight, thus Man of Steel making enough to greenlight Batman v. Superman ..

Agent Carter defiantly has potential. Let's hope they make it the show AoS should have been and that super heroes/villains play a major role.

Lmao, that is the worst show in existence.

Back on Topic, any new thoughts on Ben Affleck as Batman?

It's already improved a lot with the last few episodes. And the announcement of Lady Sif making an appearance has got me more excited for the show.

Stop avoiding the point, and get your DC Hating ass to admit that DC gives us better television.

And FYI TV shows are generally better for the fans as we get a new 45min episode every week. Much more exciting for us than waiting 2 years for the next 2hr film.

I don't watch any of the tv shows. I am still loving the fact you admitted I was right about dc sucking ass on the big screen.

lol, your anger, and your hate, must make you strong.

You hate DC, we get it. You don't have to keep reminding us.

Of course you don't. You wouldn't want to watch superheroes on a medium where DC's been ahead of Marvel for years.

I'm guessing you don't watch animated features either. Because DC really is well ahead on that front too.

Atm. There's no competition from WB/DC at all right now in that medium. Have to wait 2 years for them to be back in the game with BvS. In 3-5 years they might be Marve's equal if Justice League and related spin off's go well.. Or they might still be getting no where. Only time will tell.

I don't hate them I pity them because they are getting ethered by marvel to the point of hilarity ensuing.
