Nah. Qui Gon sucks.
So then Maul sucks? It was Qui Gon battling Maul 75% of the time in TPM with Kenobi getting kicked in the face every ten seconds. Plus Jinn was the padawan to Dooku, the order's greatest student, so that's gotta help his case. As well as Jinn having a major advantage of experience against Savage.

I may be wrong but imo Jinn can beat Savage, or at least hold his own until Dooku beats Maul.

Maul was simply luring Jinn back the whole entire fight, the only portion of there fight that counts is there 1v1. In there 1v1 fight Qui Gon came at Maul "fully rejuvenated" and got cut down in 30seconds.

Lets not beat the dead pig here.

So anyone who loses to Maul sucks now?

Qui-Gon was one of the best swordsmen of his time. Maul's just better.

That said no way is Qui-Gon beating Opress. Opress has defeated Adi, Ventress and even Plo Koon.

30 seconds is actually long for a lightsaber duel. Imo Savage wouldn't do any better than Qui Gon.

I'm actually quite surprised. I put Qui Gon better than those 3.

Qui-Gon's problem is he lack feats.

Rather his stamina and lack of defense.

But only because Maul had lured him into a narrow corridor, where the Jedi Master's ataru (which had served him to stalemate Mace Windu in sparring) was ineffective.

On Tatooine, the two appeared to be evenly matched.

This has never been mentioned as having an effect on the actual fight. Besides, even with the help of Obi-Wan in much space, they were lesser than Maul.

I need to remind you that Maul had his leg injured from an axe and that it haden't been cleaned.

They still were not evenly matched on Tatooine. Qui-Gon was simply surviving, and when he escapes we see how exhausted he was.

They werint evenly matched on Tatooine.

Maul was driving Jinn back the whole time and Jinn was panting and exhausted.

And dont even use that as a excuse, seeing as being in a small corner would be just as much of a disadvantage towards Maul.

If TPM Maul and TCW Maul are close in sabers, then Jinn did much better against Maul then Opress.

Anyway, Dooku can engage Maul in saber fight, and help Jinn to take advantage over Savage with his FL or TK.

I see no disparity between TPM Maul and TCW Maul in saber skill.

I think it's somewhere stated that he became more powerful. Not sure, though.

@Intrepid37
Neither do I.

@Col. Valerian
Maybe you're right, I'm not sure. As I remeber thats was Savage's word.

^With the force broski.

^He said that, after he lost saber duel to Maul. So we can't be sure.

Maul muses he's more powerful when he fights Sidious, which is very true considering his feats. More skilled? Not at all.

My post was in reference to Col.Valerians, buddy. No need to beat the dead pig.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the TPM novelization mentions it. That's why Maul retreats against Qui Gon.

(unless if you wish to argue that Jinn is legitimately driving him back...but that wouldn't really support your case)

Besides, even with the help of Obi-Wan in much space, they were lesser than Maul.

Well, Maul repeatedly needs to take out Obi Wan with kicks, and backtracks against them, so...

I need to remind you that Maul had his leg injured from an axe and that it haden't been cleaned.

That sounds like pointless Maul-wank inserted by some author, but it's canon, so I won't argue it.

Maul is certainly superior to Qui Gon as of TPM, but we can't overlook the fact that Jinn had been running in the desert for god-knows-how-long.
