So is this show just gonna be nothing like the comics plot wise?
Same characters, same names, same overall concept but completely re-written, it seems.
My opinion is that Preacher slow. Like, painfully slow. It's not a terrible series, so far, but it drags and never seems to pick up speed.
I know that Garth Ennis' "a million miles per hour" plot and pacing style wouldn't work for a television show, but can we pick it up just a little bit?

I quite like the pace. It shows confidence. Too many shows try to cram too much in the first few episodes without giving the characters chance to settle in, form relationships, create some depth. Fortunately, though I am a fan of Ennis, I never got around to reading Preacher and once I found out about the TV series I decided to watch the series first. So, for me there are surprises and twists and interesting characters that make me look forward to each new episode.
I'm enjoying this show so far, but I wonder how much it'll change once they all go on the run together, (As they do in the comics) they may not decide to go that route, (The producers) but taking it out of the setting that they're already working hard to establish seems a bit foolish. Loving the Tarantino-esque style of the show though.

The story is completely different.
